Glad you asked! Okay, it does all the things the picture depicts. It can be thrown and it will automatically return.
In the lower left of the pic, all power is routed to one blade making it bigger and more powerful, like a beam sword.
Also, once any of the blades are removed, a small cannon can be fired from the slot that the blade was attached to.
If all the blades are removed, the spin function can be activated and the cannons can be fired in extreme rapid succession (like a minigun).
