Sham

Marguerite Henry wrote a horse story about a stallion she named Sham, loosely based on The Godolphin Arabian. I loved that book. It kept coming out of the library with me. The edition I was first introduced to had a painted-looking color illustration lining its inner cover and first page, showing several horses racing across the sand in tasseled bridles, with Sham in the lead. I was trying to recapture a little bit of that here.
