So, this is one of the top three projects taking up my life right now... I'm making it for a class final. Actually doing it in vector format, but I took it into psp to crop down to the relevant bit.

Could somebody maybe tell me if I'm ok with this? because everything visible was either tablet-drawn or mouse-drawn by me, and it's not anybody else's copywritten artwork, but I have been using a photograph (which is presumable copywritten by somebody) to trace color swatches... Is that still FAC-level "original," or is it sort of starting to cross the line into a really detailed photo-manip? 0.o

Oh, well. I'm happy with how it's coming along, either way. :) It's going to be Christopher Eccleston when it's finished.

Ref is a larger version of this:

luckylace222What luscious looking lips! HAHA I love how different the reference picture is from the drawn picture!

Yes, you are allowed to do color vector pictures like this as long as you did not literally just screencap the picture, manipulate the colors a tiny bit, and say you drew all of it. From your description, you used the reference picture in a common artistic way. It is a good idea to add a link to your reference so no one can frame you of cheating since you sited it respectfully. KEEP DRAWING THAT PROJECT! It is starting out great-looking!

FirielOh, thanks. :)
And thanks for the info, also.

His colors do seem to be coming up brighter and warmer in the vector, but I am hoping eventually to have some resemblance showing between the two, also. When I switch to a vie of the original the vectored version seems to look half-way natural on it, so I guess that's a good sign. :)
