As it turns out, today is the same day as the events of Mako Mori's flashback in Pacific Rim, which led to her being taken in by Stacker Pentecost and inspired to join the fight against the Kaiju. So here is my quick contribution to today in fandom history - a portrait of my favorite Jaeger-pilot.

Jadisvery well drawn. I don't know the story it's from...what's with the red shoes? red shoes to me are about an old fractal that red shoes makes one unable to stop dancing,

FirielThank you. :)
The woman, Mako, was wearing those shoes as a child on the day that her city was attacked by... basically a sea-monster, and her adoptive father-figure rescued her. They became kind of a visual symbol of that day, and of her resolve to do something about attacks like the one she survived. So it's less a general thing everybody should recognize, and more of a picture specific to her story.

Firiel...I kinda want to hug your brain right now. :) Yeah, we could use more love for it on this site! AzureMikari's made enough little Kaiju-sprites that we'd pretty much have a category if we could get some more artists in the game...
Thanks for the lovely, friendly comment.
