Uhm... excuse me, but I just HAD to check vol 3 of the manga and anime for this after reading the last couple of comments. Maybe it's just me or something, but HOW does either of those look ANYTHING like the picture Hero's drawn?
For one thing, the manga looks nothing like it. And the dvd cover... unless I've got a different version of the dvd (which I doubt it), it has Jing hugging a Purovora on it... The pose is different, the angle is different... I fail to see what the hell Lordoffalkobuns is talking about when he mentions volume 3 of either anime or dvd... ¬_¬"

I know her personally and I know for a fact that she does not copy anything.
Hero- I think he means the cover of the 3rd Jing dvd:

Although I must say, even though the angle in the DVD is similar to the angle in Hero's pic, there still are many differences in her picture that would indicate that she did not copy. And let's face it, any jing in that angle would look like that, plus, the human body is capable of only so many poses; inevitably you'd find something similar. Lastly, even if she use it for refrence, as stated, there are plenty of differences in it that would qualify it as a picture with a pose referance, which is not illegal and is a common practice even among proffessional illustrators.
And for all you out there who don't know what the 3rd manga cover looks like, here:

Even with his arm up, the differences in the pose is great.
Ahem, off to the comment---
I think this picture has a cute concept. Way to show off similarities^^-

Even if you don't care, I just felt I should mention, please be careful when you make bold comments like that. I take much pride in (and a lot of thought) with how I can pose the characters. But no, I didn't use vol. 3 as any sort of reference and I didn't not lamely draw a knock off of it in ANY sort of way I put my pride as a fan artist behind that comment. Any reference I used was for Jing's hair (because it's weird at different angles, and no it was NOT from vol. 3 nor any of the mangas.) and what ever details I needed for Yoh. But that's it. I looked at the cover of Vol. 3 to see what you two were talking about, but didn't see any ghastly resemblence at all. In fact that jing is holding an umbrella and looking in a completely different direction! That would be a horrible reference to use in my personal opinon. And yes it will sadden you to hear that The pose (which was hard to draw) is pretty original too. But thank you for being kind enough to explain what Lordoffalkobuns comment meant. But you don't have to worry about this Jing's pose, it's 100% natural artist talent baby!

Okay, the similarities here are more than a little creepy.
But when you consider that one kid shoves his hand up a bird's bum to make it cough fireballs while the other one communes with the spirits of the deceased and asks then to duke it out Ghostly Tekken style, then no.
They're not alike at all!
