charmander and links shield

Great foam carvings! Nice work on the paint job. This is quite a good idea to make props out of foam for cosplays; makes it nice and light to carry around and less likely to get damaged.

foam is fun to carve and yeah, light and durable...and if you hit someone with it it won't hurt them, so safer than harder materials for playing,

Beautiful. :) How did you make the Charmander, if I may ask?

found old memory foam mattress in trash, sketched the shape on paper from several views, rough cut it with large scissors [jsut squish foam flat and cut along lines] and then cut off gradually whatever part doesn't look like a charmander, basically. I use smaller scissors as I get to finer details. he's painted with fabric paint.

foam is great fun to carve. Charmander was carved with kitchen scissors mostly. the shield was carved on my dad's band saw, which is made for cutting wood but makes quick neat work of foam too. chairmanned is a piece off an old memory foam mattress, so very soft foam, the shield was stiffer foam purchased at a craft store intended for chair cushions.
