The cat doesn't exist... 0__o he's in the legend, though. According to the story, Buddha held a banquet and said that all of the animals were invited, and the first twelve to get there would be granted the title of a zodiac sign. The rat told the cat when the banquet was, and unbeknownst to the cat the rat gave him the wrong date intentionally. The rat rode to the banquet atop the oxen's shoulders, while the cat slept at home dreaming of the banquet he would never get to attend... and to this day, the cat still hates the rat and tries to catch him.
