As for the image killing your scanner. What program is the image being imported to and what format is it being transferred to when you scan it in. :/ I suggest looking into that, scanners shouldn't be dieing just because a picture has more detail. Also, for better control over your image you can adjust in different programs such as photoshop. It can take a lot of stress of a scanner.
Overall the image is really good :3 You tackled a lot of hard problems at once in this picture. The main thing that stood out to me was her face. You did a wonderful job with it. Side profiles can be extremely hard to draw. I also love the light curve of her body in the pose. You also did a good job with drawing two semitransparent wings. Simitransparent anything is hard to draw in pencil or pen.

Sense your image is suppose to be calm and fluid you should try to make your lines similarly fluid. Ways to do this is just to relax and not try to fight with your medium as much. It seems a bit like your pencil was trying to fight against you.
Next, the hands are just a tiny bit too small in comparison to her head.
