Description
My contest piece for the new year contest. Those splogy things in the background are meant to be fireworks. The white rabbit idea came from the custom of saying white rabbits on the first day of every month to bring good luck.... So why not kiss a white rabbit on the first day of the year for good luck ^_^

This. is. Gorgeous! Kiss a white rabbit....or rip off his leg and keep it in your pocket. >:D HOHOHOH
Your entry has been put up. Wonderful angel with white rabbit concept! I know NEw Years is about partying and celebration, but there is indeed a sense of purity with it too. How did you do those watercolor "fireworks?" They have such...shape! Thanks for the entry! Lovely art! YOU IMPRESS ME OFTEN

Thankies ^_^ And I have always wanted to do dark backgrounds but they ended up looking dirty and ruining the picture, but after searching the interweb I found a solution ^_^. First you paint the background with lots of different colour (best bit) then you wait for that to dry before blobbing masking fluid on and getting a straw and quickly blowing the blobs to make it go everywhere. Then you wait for that to dry and paint black over it... wait for that to dry and then peel the masking fluid off and tada..... alot of waiting around though :/ x

Whooaa you sure worked hard for this, then! Why did you not put masking fluid/black thick paint on the background and then make fireworks/different colors (like stars) with a toothpick though? -If you wanted the firework format? Sorry for the bad grammar- typing fast and without second rhyme or reason.

I have tried scraping the paint off before but when I'v done it in the past its either ripped or the water pools back in making it a black, horrible dirty colour haha. and I could of put the masking fluid down with doing the colours but I would've needed to of still painted the colours in afterwards... resulting in the black to be mixed again xxx I wish watercolour was like acrylic, were you can just paint over each layer :) x

I only use acrylics in those paint by numbers pieces haha and I used to always work in coloured pencils but I changed a few years back. I'v tried gel pen :) And the last pencil drawing I did was for a birthday present and I think it was flowers in a vase. I think I use watercolour a lot because you can cheat with it when doing large areas haha. And I've seen painted pictures in your gallery!? What is your preferred media? x

I paint, but I do not prefer it. Not yet. Actually, I may not ever prefer it! The ability to make every single tiny detail stroke is ideal for a pen/pencil (ideal medium because I started drawing comics) for me! -Only some painted pictures. I must say my favorite painting medium IS watercolor because of your reason: You can cheat in large areas. xD -And it looks so pretty even if you totally mess up! One can really master it to get a beautiful result!
My favorite water color FF7 Cloud picture is this! He is beauutiffffuulll, and I feel the watercolor really brings that soft eyelash and undertone/nostalgia. http://b-agt.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d4tnst8
What is your favorite picture out of any medium?
