For my latest inspiration, I choose to make completely new designs for the elemental dragons that I originally drew back in 2000 but uploaded to my gallery only recently.
There is a bit of backstory behind my elemental dragons in general, but I'll summarize: These are not ordinary dragons. In a fantasy world ruled by eight spiritual beings (each one representing one element), the eight elemental dragons were created as avatars -- physical forms for the ruling elements to occupy, refashioned from the bodies of fallen white dragons and combined with the pure power of each respective element.
So, meet the third (and possibly final) design for the fire element, by far more impressive than the last time I drew any of my elemental dragons. Are those scales or actual flames decorating his body? I won't tell, but feel free to speculate.

Well,I can't tell if it's scales or fire,and I won't try to guess.I have to say,the fire dragon is my favourite and I will add it to my favourites.Oh yeah,wonderful colouring.looks like real flames.

in this case the wings don't have to be large enough to fly very high or swiftly. I would imagine that this dragon loves to swim in lava, which is how it survives, it probably gets energy from fire and that is how its scales catch fire. Heatherenie on May 2, 2005, 11:54:32 AM

WOW! wouldn't want to touch that! is it getting hot in here or is it just me? the colors are very realistic. i like the scales, it is almost like the scales are on fire and that is how the dragon has fire like scales all over it's body.
