Claire: You got lucky that wasn't a point-blank shot. The bullet didn't go too far in.

Key: *continues to kiss him*

Walter: Oh... *Nods a little* S'good...

Harry: *Pulls away to give Key a small smile, combing his fingers through her hair*

Mia: You shouldn't move too much. <:/

Claire: ...

Key: *smiles back, closing her eyes and leaning into his hand*

Rick: She's right, Walt.

Harry: *Keeps combing his fingers through her hair*

Harry: *Looks over at the others* ...

Walter: Okay... I think I'm ready.

Mia: ! *gets up to grab a can of food, and goes back over to Walter*

Walter: *Stays still, not wanting to provoke his injury*

Mia: *opens up the can, then leans Walter's head up a bit to try and get him to eat*

Walter: *Eats the food the best he can without making a mess*

Mia: *is very patient with him*

Claire: *sets down her empty can of food, and stares out the safehouse window*

Claire: D: *grabs the pain pills and one of the water bottles*

Walter: *Wheezes and moans from the pain*

Rick: Good good good, get him those pills.

Mia: *squeezes Walter's hand tightly, attempting to distract him*

Claire: *very very carefully sits Walter up, and offers him the pills and water*

Walter: *Gulps the pills down with the water, gasping a little afterwards from chugging the bottle*

Rick: It'll kick in after a bit. Don't worry. <:/

Harry: <:/ ...

Claire: *gently lays him back down*

Mia: *still holds onto his hand* <:(

Walter: *Squeezes Mia's hand tightly*

Harry and Rick: <:/

Mia: *holds his hand with both of hers, willing to stay until his pain passes*

Walter: *Gives Mia a pained, silent smile*

Harry and Rick: *Waits*

Mia: *rubs the back of his hand with her thumb*

Claire: ... *goes to set the water bottle back down on the counter. she sighs*

Walter: ... Y-your comfort... I-is appreciated...

Mia: Hey, it's what I'm here for, right? <:(

Walter: S-still... I appreciate y-you...

Mia: *touches his cheek, giving him a sad smile* I appreciate you too.

Walter: *Smiles a little bit more widely*

Mia: *gently strokes his cheek with her thumb*

Rick: We had Scott after a year of our marriage. We were a happy family, yeah...

Harry: *Picks up some sadness in Rick's tone* <:/

Rick: ... Our home was broken into, and Joyce was shot. She actually startled the burglar and he reacted with... That. Years later, after Todd was born, while the poor kid was still in elementary school, Scott... Little Scotty... He died too...

Rick: ... I kinda flung myself to Oregon in my own grief. I built myself my little cabin in the woods and never came out since, except during the holidays to visit what I had left of my family.

Rick: ... Sorry. I tried telling a happy story, but... That just ended up being a painful memory.

Mia: *sits back down by Walter, and eats*

Claire: It'd take a lot more than what i'm giving him to get him addicted. I don't think he'll need it after today, anyway.

Walter: *Looks around the room, extremely dazed from the morphine*

Rick: Hey, that's not so bad, right? This could have been a LOT worse. ^^

Mia: *puts her hand over Walter's* ...He could have died.

Claire: ...He could have. But he didn't.

Rick: Right! He didn't. Which is why I'm saying it could have been worse. :)

Walter: *Closes his eyes, feeling safe with Mia there*

Harry: ...

Mia: *rubs the back of his hand with her thumb, happy to offer comfort*

Claire: ...

Walter: *Is comfortable enough, especially due to the morphine*

Harry: ... Okay then. Now what?

Rick: I could tell another story?

Key: Go ahead. :o

Claire: May as well, to pass the time.

Mia: *listens*

Rick: Alright, well I was traveling for a while and ended up going to Egypt, since I still had the funds for doing that sort of thing. It was hot, sand got in places I'd rather not bring up, and at one point I was knocked down by this woman who didn't know where she was going!

Harry: *Listens*

Walter: *Relaxed*

Everyone: *listens with interest*

Rick: Well, as it turned out, that woman was a tourist like me and she was rushing because she was late for her tour of the pyramids. That woman's name was Joyce. We met up later and sorta... Fell in love.

Harry: <:)

Walter: *Resting*

Mia: Awww. <3

Rick: We settled down in the city, actually. San Francisco. Not too clean, not too SAFE, but that's how Joyce and I liked it.

Harry: *Listens*

Rick: Wanna hear a fun story?

Claire: *is visibly interested* ?

Rick: Well, I was out in the woods away from my cabin one day, hunting for some meat. I made sure to wear sun screen that day as it was the middle of summer and BOILING hot. Even with all those trees, you can't be too careful, you see. After a long day of walking, I decided to walk back empty-handed when I saw a baby deer.

Harry and Walter: *Asleep*

Mia: Go on. c:

Claire: *listens* ...

Key: *waking up* ...?

Rick: Well anyway, I couldn't just KILL it... I mean, it was a BABY DEER. It was BAMBI. So I sort of left it there and kept walking to my cabin. I only noticed it was following me when I reached my cabin. The little guy must have smelled my sun screen, and wanted to get a taste!

Harry and Walter: *Still asleep*

Mia: Awww. CX

Claire: *listens*

Key: ..? *listens in*

Rick: I didn't really know what to do, so I gave the baby deer a salt lick and made sure to keep it out of my cabin. Luckily for me, he was gone the next morning. XP

Harry and Walter: *Asleep*

Mia: Aww. <3 Maybe mama deer came and found him. :P

Claire: :)

Key: X)

Rick: Maybe. Or he scampered off on his own. X3

Harry: *Waking up* ...?

Walter: *Asleep*

Key: ! *nuzzles Harry* <3

Mia: *goes back to watching Walter, her mood a little better*

Claire: ...

Harry: *With a small smile, he nuzzles Key back a little*

Rick: ^^

Walter: *Asleep*

Key: *sits there next to Harry* So um... now what?

Claire: We sit and wait for Walter to recover.

Mia: ...

Harry: ... That'll be kinda boring, but if it's for Walter's sake, then let's wait.

Rick: Here, here!

Walter: *Asleep*

Key: We waited for everyone else, so... <:/

Mia: *nods*

Claire: Mhmm.

Walter: *Wakes up in a whole lot of pain* Aaahhagh...! DX

Harry: Oh, he needs some pain medication. :/

Rick: Whoops. D:

Mia: !!

Claire: ! Pain pills won't be enough at this point. *pulls the morphine back out of the bag, and goes to inject him with some*

Mia: You still need to. <:P

Claire: :) *goes back to eating, seeing that all is well, for the most part*

Walter: Mm... Fine... *he closes his eyes, trying to sleep*

Mia: *nuzzles him a bit, then pulls away, retrieving a chair only so she could sit next to the table again, resting her arms and her head on the wood surface near him*

Key: *sets aside her empty can of food, and leans back against Harry*

Claire: *eats silently*

Harry: *Leans against Key*

Rick: *Eats jerky*

Walter: *Quickly falls asleep*

Mia: *falls asleep next to him*

Claire: *finishes her food, and sits down against a wall*

Key: *nuzzles Harry's cheek*

Harry: *Nuzzles back*

Walter: *Asleep*

Rick: ... Ho hum.

Mia: *asleep*

Key: *snuggles against him, wrapping her arms around his middle* 'night...

Claire: *tries to sleep*

Harry: *Quietly* Good night, Key.

Rick: *Yawns*

Key: *falls asleep after a few minutes*

Harry: *Watches Claire for a bit before also falling asleep*

The Next Morning

Rick: *Not. He eats more jerky*

Mia: *also awake, she quietly sits by Walter, elbows on the table, chin in her hands* ...

Claire: *waking up* ...

Rick: *Waves at Mia and Claire* ^^

Harry and Walter: *Asleep*

Mia: *returns the wave* ^^

Claire: *gives him a small wave* :)

Rick: *Gets up and walks around to get blood pumping in his legs*

Harry and Walter: *Asleep*

Claire: *stands up and stretches*

Mia: *stays sitting next to Walter*

Walter and Harry: *Asleep*

Claire: Decent. I guess.

Mia: Oh, same, same... *yawns*

Mia: *goes back to watching over Walter*

Rick: Only kinda because of the morphine, unfortunately. <:/

Claire: Just let us know if it starts hurting more. <:/

Mia: Maybe you should just go back to sleep, you need the rest. <:(

Walter: Mm... *He briefly touches Mia's arm*

Harry: ...

Mia: *covers his hand with her own, then sets it back down on the table. She leans down to kiss his forehead, stroking his cheek with the back of her fingers*

Claire: ...

Walter: *Smiles a little at her*

Harry and Rick: <:/ ...

Mia: *gently brushes a few stray strands of hair out of his face. her voice is quiet* ...You're going to be fine. You survived that Charger, right...?

Key and Claire: <:( ...

Walter: ... Yeah... 'Cuz of you...

Rick: <:)

Harry: ...

Mia: Then I'll make sure you survive this one too. <:)

Key: <:)

Claire: ...

Walter: *Smiles a bit more widely*

Mia: <:) ... *leans down to kiss him again, this time on the lips*

Walter: *He kisses Mia back*

Harry: *Continues to watch Claire, ashamed that he's developed feelings for her*

Claire: *once she's done, she puts the backpack over her shoulder* They had enough to last us a few more days. Hopefully Walter will have recovered by then.

Harry: Well, he certainly seems lucky enough. We should head back.

Claire: *nods, and starts heading back the way they came*

Harry: *Behind the safety of the gas mask, he stares at Claire*

Claire: *doesn't notice, and continues walking, oblivious to his feelings*

*They reach the Safe House*

Rick: Hey, how'd it go?

Harry: We found more food.

Walter: *Unconscious*

Claire: *sets the backpack down on a countertop* Hopefully we'll be able to keep moving before we run out.

Key: Yaaay, we won't starve <:D

Mia: ...

Harry: For now we won't starve, yeah.

Rick: Good news!

Walter: *Unconscious*

Claire: *takes off her gas mask, and sets it down, looking over at Walter* Anything happen while we were gone?

Key: Nope. <:/

Mia: ...

Harry: Well, sometimes nothing can be a good thing.

Rick: Yay, optimism! :D

Walter: *Unconscious*

Claire: Mhmm. So, anyone hungry? *opens up the backpack and lays out the contents*

Key: ...Yes. *takes one of the cans and goes to sit and eat it*

Mia: *doesn't move*

Harry: *Takes off his mask and grabs a can. He sits by Key*

Rick: I'm happy with my jerky. *Munches on deer jerky*

Walter: *...*

Claire: Suit yourself. <:P *grabs a can of food for herself* Mia, you should eat.

Mia: ... *grabs one of the packs of jerky and goes back to standing by Walter, nibbling on the dried meat* ...

Key: *scoots closer to Harry, eating quietly*

Harry: ... You know, we were lucky to get out of that alive. VERY lucky. Those guys had us outnumbered AND taken by surprise.

Rick: Well, we surprised them right the hell back! *Takes a big bite of his jerky*

Walter: *...*

Mia: Walter saved our lives...

Claire: *nods in agreement* That he did.

Key: *nods* <:)

Rick: He may have began the "fighting back" thing, but you know how we really survived today? Teamwork. Teamwork's what it's all about.

Harry: ... :)

Walter: *...*

Mia: ... :)

Key: *leans against Harry's side, happy--at least, as happy as she could be*

Claire: *gives them a small smile*

Harry: *Gives Key a tiny wave before following Claire out*

Claire: *retraces their steps, heading back down the street to where the raiders attacked them* ...

Harry: ... S-so, um... How've you been doing?

Claire: *gives him a confused look, though it's hidden by the gas mask* ...Fine, I guess. Yourself?

Harry: ... Well, I've been better. Think we'll find anything on the bodies?

Clare: If they've been consistently raiding other groups, then yes.

Harry: ... Good, uh... Good intuition, Claire.

Claire: *nods* ...! *spots a few infected ahead of them, and shoots them*

Harry: *Whacks one in the head with his gun, not wanting to waste bullets* Do you have any friends in the Safe Zone?

Claire: I had a few. Most of them were in my squad, and well... you know what happened to them.

Harry: ... Claire, I meant IN the Safe Zone. Currently. I didn't mean to remind you of your squad. <:/

Claire: I know. That was it, for the most part. I was usually too busy for much else.

Harry: Not even a boyfriend?

Claire: I did at one point. Work and the infection got in the way of that too.

Harry: Ah... That's a shame.

Claire: *sighs* Yep... *spots the dead raiders* Ah. Here we are.

Harry: *Watches Claire from a distance*

Claire: *picks through the dead bodies, trying to find something that could be of use. She takes a backpack off one of them, and puts in whatever she finds--a can or two, a sew sealed bags of jerky, bottles of water*

Rick: *Picks up Walter* C'MON!! D8

Walter: *unconscious*

*They run to the next Safe House*

Claire: *bars the door behind them once they're inside. she glances around--the safehouse is a shoe store*

Mia: *shoves all the boxes off of a table so they can put Walter down*

Key: *pulls out the med kit again and holds onto it until someone asks for it*

Walter: *Unconscious*

Rick: Maybe we should put some more bandages around his chest...

Harry: <:/

Claire: Mhmm. Key--

Key: *hands her the kit*

Claire: *pulls out more bandages, and reapplies them to help stop blood flow better* ...There. That's all we can do for him right now.

Mia: <:( ......

Walter: *Unconscious*

Harry: <:/

Rick: Mia, will you be okay?

Mia: *nods* Just as long as he is... *places her hand over his, gently squeezing it, more for her own reassurance than anything else*

Key: <:( ... *goes to look for supplies*

Claire: ...The wound wasn't too deep, and we managed to stop the bleeding quickly enough. He should be fine.

Rick: Let's hope so. <:/

Harry: ... *Sits down somewhere*

Walter: *Unconscious*

Mia: *stands by the table with Walter* ...

Key: *is looking for things*

Claire: *turns to look out the safehouse door* ...

Harry: *Stays by Claire* ...

Walter: *Unconscious*

Rick: *Scrounges around the store for things of use*

Claire: ...

Mia: <:( ...

Key: *comes back* I found a few first aid kits in the back. There isn't too much food left back there, but it's there. :/

Rick: We're running out. <:/

Harry: We need to find food soon or we're going to starve. D:

Walter: *Unconscious*

Key: We should have enough for today, but we're going to have to go out tomorrow. <:/

Claire: *sighs* Very well then... we can go back and see if those raiders had anything on them.

Mia: ...

Harry: ...

Rick: Good idea, Claire. <:/

Walter: *Unconscious*

Claire: *puts her gas mask back on*

Key: Wait--you're going out NOW?

Claire: I'd rather get to them before the infected do. Who's coming?

Mia: ...

Harry: *Immediately* I am. D: *He puts his own gas mask on*

Rick: ... Well. Good luck to you both, then. :/

Walter: *Unconscious*

Claire: *nods* We shouldn't be too long. *leaves the safehouse with Harry*
