Hephestus: The son of Zeus and Hera... Also known as Vulcan by the Romans... He is the Olympian god of the forge, the celestial artist and inventor... Zeus threw him out of Mount Olympus, for taking his mother's side in a quarrel between them... As a result of the fall down to earth, Hephestus came up lame... Because of his master crafts-manship he was welcome back to the fold of the gods. His blacksmith work has made Hephestus enormously stronger than most gods... The Cyclopes are his assistants...
