Description

Description
jira
Charon: The son of Erebus and Nyx. He is the boatman, who ferries the souls over the river Styx, one of five rivers that run through the domain of Hades. His frail appearance only belies the great strength he uses in the transporting of countless souls. The living that seeks his services must pay with a coin that was previously placed under the tongue of the dead, even though he has been known to compromise his fare... Your comments are welcome...

jiraSo many interpretations "ladyofthecanyon" and they're all interesting...

ladyofthecanyonI like your version! Although, I imagined him to be as though he was a pale white corpsish-looking figure, and where eyes should be, simply blackness. I think he was a valued mortal to Hades who was given a job out of compassion.

NightbirdVery cool I read the Orpheaus story and he was in it and he cried when Orpheus played his sad song.

jiraThanks for the comments! But as for the ferry boat who's to say he hasn't used up, more than one during his immortal existence...

RenzophilHmm, nice approach, I like the waves. I never pictured the Ferryman as a skeleton. Hm, green robe. I'd think dark Teal better suits the ferrier of souls and I would have made his staff look like it was petrified from a bajillion years of use. Very Nice pic.

ToadslyQuinneHis robe is green- that's wonderful! And the boat and waves looks great. Noice work.
