RA-ATUM: First of the royal divinities, forefather and creator of all things, also known as the lord of the sun... In some Egyptian myths Ra was identified with the god Atum... The god Ra-Atum, thought to be the father of Shu (god of the air) and Tefnut (goddess of moisture) the parents of the gods... A master of transformation and great magic... Ra-Atum faced all sorts of adversaries sailing across the sky by day in a shinning ship called ‘The Bargue of Millions of Years, at night his second ship named “Serpent Prowed”, crewed by the stars he navigated the dark waters of the underworld... But there came a time when he grew weary of living in Heliopolis and moved to heaven...

jiraYour view of Ra-Atum being a compositive of two Egyptian deities, is the research interpretation I feel most comfortable with! Though I know that many are the points of view concerning all godly origins...

Daughter_of_Anubisjust Ra is the supreme creator. Ra-Atum is the sun god. Ra was created by the sun that is why he wheres a discus on his head. it is said that Ra created the other gods from his sweat because of the heat of the sun. Ra created people from his tears because there was no one to make earth more beautiful.
