My first attempt at a fanart contest. This was for Narutofan.com's 2005 Halloween contest. I thought of the concept from an experience of my own many years ago. It turns out that "Kakashi" means scarecrow in Japanese. My favorite part is Sakura and Sasuke pushing Naruto forward to find out if the treats really are free or if they will get a trick instead.
Sadly, it did not place, but it's a good piece anyway

The people on this site that judge contests wouldn't know good art if it bit them in the @$$. I've never entered one cuz I know I'd lose and I only fight battles I know I can win (cuz I'm cowardly but that's not the point :/)
I thought it odd that kakashi meant that when I found out as well.
Great drawing though, it really feels like nighttime, I know how hard that is to capture. And the pumpkins' glow is well done! Also, didn't read the other comments so I don't know if anyone else noticed, but I LOVE the fact that the pumpkins faces' are other characters =D, Garra was the first I noticed, then Kubuto, then Itachi and I guess Orochimaru is in front but I wasn't sure, as well as what's his name, shark-guy; Itachi's partner, what are the other ones?
Well anyway, I love your attention to detail! The best kind of pic is one where you can stare at it for ten minuets and notice something new every moment! Great job in general!

I did this a few years back, so the enemies aren't completely up to date, but the ones you're missing is Kankurou behind Kabuto, Haku back between Kakashi's legs, the bandaged, Sound guy who was competing in the Chuunin exam, the Sound enemy that Gaara and Rock Lee battled together is behind the Gaara pumpkin and the one right out front is Kyuubi the nine-tailed fox demon.
You know a lot of people miss the pumpkins, but I don't think that was the case with the contest. They just preferred certain characters and a certain style that mine didn't fit. Such is the problem with these sort of things. It's all about perspective and subjectivity.
I've actually stopped doing contests. I've put a lot of effort into recent ones and I've been disappointed with how they've been judged. From now on, I draw what I want :D
