This is Avatar(the Blue People) inspired artwork for my friend who likes original/stylized artwork. It was done on 2 ft by 1.5 ft brown matboard. The blue lips and eyes popped out well, which is what I wanted with such a dark background!

Let me make up a story about what the heck she is on the spot.

She is a... magical leprechaun/mermaid/Navi creature that can be found deep deep deep in the ocean(where the giant squid wanders about!). If you can find her and solve her fancy riddle, she will give you the magical shell that can make all your dreams come true. *makes a rainbow with her hands when saying "all"* You are borrowing half of her power by using her seashell, so you must use it wisely. Naturally, your first wish would be to get a new pony, preferably a lavender colored one with a touch of sprinkles on top.

This is old art drawn in 2010. I am putting all my old art from the past year before I start on those fancy art-trade! I may even upload my new manga soon, if I dare have the audacity. P;

EDIT: Cảm ơn bạn đã cho tính năng này!

luckylace222Thank-you! "trippy" you say! I have not heard that adjective for the lines! I like it. TRIPPY ART-STYLE. P; Heh. yeah. I can do that! LOL!

Mist_WingVery pretty and I love the detail! OMG THE COLORS ARE INCREDIBLE! Haha isn't it nice not to work on a white background?

luckylace222Indeed! That way, I do not have to use up my precious markers/colored pencils just to make it look like the sky. ;P

Thanks a lot for your feedback!

KelekiahGaladrianGoodness, that's amazing! Despite being somewhat old, it's a wonderful picture!

I've never been able to make traditional art look good, whether it was just sketching, penciling, coloring with markers, coloring with crayons, coloring with colored pencils, none of it. And I've never even heard of a matboard before.

But you work with all of this fantastically! I'm amazed! This is a beautiful piece of work and I love it :D

I like your story of what she is too :D

luckylace222OHH~ So not say you are bad at traditional just yet! Your digital work must have sprouted from something- ad that is those traditional crayon pictures back in kindergarten, lol!

Mat board is this interesting thick type of board(my art teacher said drawing acrylic on matboard would make the acrylic slowly deteriorate over time, lol) that can be good for permanent marker work!

Thanks!

KelekiahGaladrian on July 11, 2011, 4:28:14 AM

KelekiahGaladrian on
KelekiahGaladrianThat's probably true, but that doesn't mean that those traditional crayon pictures from kindergarten are GOOD.

Ooohhh, that's cool :D

You're so very welcome ^^

luckylace222AH! You notice the cat bow! I am impressed- hehe. I thought it was somewhat well hidden! *u* Thanks a lot!

The background of this specific matbard is a coppery brown, so the tarnish copper is right.~!

ZeroMidnightI knew I was favoriting before I even saw the full view. Incredible art~ :) Hard to believe this is your "old" art from like, a year ago. My old art from a year or more is considered pretty cruddy to myself...

ANYway, simply stunning picture, I truly love those eyes of her. c: *faves*

luckylace222The artist who drew it is the worst critic! I love your art, old or new. I have the OCd philosophy to put great effort into EVERY one of my pictures, so that when I look back at it, I will not think, "Augh, I should have done this and that." I will know that was the absolute best I did, and it looked hella good! YEHAH!

-But new art does make me more excited. ;o; Thanks a lot!

ZeroMidnightOh true, ha ha! And thank you ^w^
Wow, I wish I had that, sometimes I try my best, other times I really don't put much effort into art. Sometimes that half-@$$ed art turns into my most popular work... http://www.fanart-central.net/pic-771630.html

Me too, new art is always fun!

luckylace222Oh goody! They DO look like bubbles- haha. I watched the Avatar movie, and I was actually disappointed that with such great graphics, the plot could not be extensive enough. ;-; I really wanted to enjoy it as much as everyone else, but everything was so predictable, but the graphics/work on the detail and colors is so amazing!

Thank-you so much!

lashanta22You are just full of awesome!!!! The colors ohhhh the glorious COLORS!!!! I love her eyes and so much detail. The white highlights make her stand out so much^^

luckylace222 on July 8, 2011, 3:05:22 AM

luckylace222 on
luckylace222Yeah, the white highlights were made with a white out pen. I have thought about the white glitter pens people have used, but they seem too watery to work on mat boards- and I draw on a whole bunch of stuff other than mat. Also, I think I once ran out of brown paint, so used brown beans from my lunch. HAHAH

Thanks so much!

lashanta22 on July 8, 2011, 3:15:14 AM

lashanta22 on
lashanta22I thought that white was some sort of pen^^ I need to try to use one, it might make my art stand out more like yours does. WOW!!! You used food to paint with....that is what I call CREATIVE!!!!!
