This is something I drew in the beginning of September for the annual National Examiner’s envelope contest. Unfortunately though I procrastinated on it since I couldn’t decide what to draw and thus only had a night to start and finish this on a 4" by 9" envelope. Finally I was inspired to try drawing a dolphin for the second time in my life, and my sunset pictures I took from my family vacation in Florida this year. But I guess it didn’t matter anyway since I found out last week that I somehow still won the contest out of 9 other contestants. So I guess this piece will be in the National Examiner twice now, and I’ll be getting $500 in the mail.

Love the blend of strong colors to make the waves instead of using a universal water color!

That is your brilliant brilliant style! Although it is not my thing, I defintelly want to put this type of coloring in my memory bank for future pictures. I just realized that this is an anvelope! I see the crease now! You REALLY blended those colors in! It would be amaizng to get this envelope in the mail! You would not want to throw it away!
Well, now the only criticism I have is using a blending colored pencil or something to not make the lines and coloring so jagged. Some fo the white spaces in the sea can be irksome, but the piece is brillinat nevertheless!~

Aww thanks! And yeah like I said this drawing was done only in a night so I couldn't make it as perfect as I usually try to. Also I couldn't blend the colors as much either since I was worried I might ruin the thin paper of the envelope. As it was I used too many markers than I probably should have, lol to be honest I was shocked it got to Florida without getting destroyed in the mail. Lastly I intentionally left the white spaces in the water to add some reflection of light.
