Chapter 1 - I Walk
Untitled
I walk
My heart pounding
I feel it in my ears;
the pounding taking me over.
I run.
The beat echoes through the shadows.
Darkness grows thicker as I am dragged down
following you deeper into despair, losing my will.
My heart is racing in fear,
fear of myself and what I am becoming.
My arms pull you closer.
I let you shield my eyes,
Your hands cover my ears,
I don’t fight back.
The mist surrounds me...
My eyes snap open,
I push myself up, you loose your grip.
A bridge appears in the distance,
I run.
I step onto the rotting planks
I must keep my head held high
I won’t be broken,
I can’t.
Your weight pushes me down
It’s too late to escape.
My foot loses it’s hold
I plunge into the black abyss.
I hit the ground.
my body curls into a ball.
I see you in the distance
Reaching out your hand
I turn away;
ashamed of what I’ve become.
The ground beneath me gives in;
I fall again into shadow.
Hear nothing, see nothing, lost.
Everything is hidden.
I fight to stay above water
You push me down, deeper.
Water surrounds me,
I can’t fight back.
My head slips-under.
Water forces its way into my body
air runs thin
I try to breath, liquid fills my lungs
I kick, but it is no use
Slowly I slip away,
You watch me scream.
A smile spreads across your face
You have won.
