Chapter 1 - Untitled
A Smile
You thought,
When I smile, I am amused,
When I smile, I am happy,
When I smile, all are fine.
ooo
You thought,
With this smile, I am vulnerable,
With this smile, I am naïve,
With this smile, I'll follow where you lead.
ooo
But, you never knew,
With this smile that you thought was weak,
I wait and bear and smile again,
Until you leave all defences down,
And I smilingly will crush you entirely,
And leave you wondering what hit you so,
And I will wait and smile again,
For others who thought me
A smiling fool.

I find this poem to be a brilliant work of near-genius caliber. The idea of a monster behind a facade is an ancient and highly valued tradition in literature and I'm glad to see it so viciously and desperately rendered in the current generation.
