I'll give you a little trick when you're editing in Photoshop: When you open a file, it's on background right? So it's locked? Well, you double click the background layer, then click "okay." This unlocks it. Drag the layer down to the new layer thing to copy it. Then create a new layer and put it between the layer 0 and it's copy. Then click the layer that's on the top, and set it to luminosity. Then click the middle layer and edit away! This works only for changing some thing's color, though. And it doesn't work as well when changing a dark color to a light color or vice-versa. I hope that helped. ^-^
