Thinking like that is healthy. I'm the opposite, I think too much of reality and not enough frivolous thoughts.

I'm betting the Chaotix are going to do something big with Espio. I'm thinking he'll be robotocized, like his friend (Forgot the name, it's been a long time), and fight the Chaotix. Then they'll find some way to restore his free will.
