She waited for him in the snow,
she waited in the rain.
She waited through long winter nights;
she wanted him again.

Though she waited all her life,
she waited it in vain.
It didn't matter how long the days;
she wanted him again.

One day he came back to her,
old and on a cane.
He saw the tombstone made of granite;
he saw where she was lain.

He left without another word,
not knowing of her pain.
Never knowing she had died
wanting him again.
