I don't know. It's complicated trying to explain that stuff. I'll try anyway. From what I've seen, they use a new battle and level up system. Don't let it scare you, though, it's easy to learn. You won't get lost since there's almost always a map to rely on and a big red X showing you where to go next. I spent 100 hours beating the final boss and now I'm in it at 125 trying to get all the secret junk, but it's boring me out of brain so much it's not even funny. But of what secrets I did finish I had fun doing it. (This one monster must've been 50 times my size) I would wait for the price to drop if I were you.
