Well, I use Adobe Photoshop to colour that 'nomura style' artwork of mine. It's coloured digitally, so no need to use traditional colour pencils anymore, yays.

About the background thing, I'm a sucker for backgrounds, so most of the time I just colour a background with simple colours or something like that.

I haven't gotten it to work with tif but I know that it works with jpg format. For some reason photoshop doesn't like to work with different formats >.>.
To switch the format all you have to do is go to image/mode and then select RGB color. :3 That will convert it to jpg properties.
