Hmm. If the dragons are too tough, then fight a little bit outside the mine to gain levels. Theres 3 riddles in this mine you need to solve. But I can only help if you tell me where exactly you are. I can only say you will need the lightstone. You get it after defeating the group of dragons that is attacking you suddenly. They can paralize you so better have an accessory for that. Later you get into a large room which looks like a maze. There you get to chase a dragon which is running away. Chase it so it will run into a room where it cant escape and fight it and you get a key.

PA = Private Action. Its a scene you see sometimes. They have an effect on the affection levels of the characters. Some do for example make Sophia like you more but Albel like you less, etc. During some of the PAs you are asked a question and you are given 2 or 3 answers. Depending on which answer you choose you affect the levels and other things (like theres one PA where Albel gets his fathers katana, if you dont see it you wont get the weapon.)
PAs are sometimes triggered only during a certain part of the game. Thus it can happen that you miss one or two. If you have any other questions, dont hesitate to ask. I LOVE helping people with Star Ocean.

You got me right. If you want Albel and Peppita do the following: when albel joins you to go to the urza lava caves, go to peterny when he is in your team. do it before fighting crosel. in peterny, go to the inn and stay for the night. you will see a PA. albel will ask u if u hate him. say "I dont hate you"! thats it. at the beginning of dvd 2 he is supposed to help you at the kirlsa trainings facility. if you see albels PA in peterny, do not go to the first house on the left in surferio!!! it will trigger a PA that makes roger join you instead of albel.
later on moonbase you are asked to take peppita with u. say yes and u have her in ur team.
