Hello! Thank you for commenting on my drawing 'the proposal'. First I have to say I'm sorry if that comic is misleading, you see, I drew it first with .3 and .1 tech pens, then I scanned it and add those gray shadings with photoshop. There are other ways of adding shades and textures, Jap manga artists use tones for backgrounds, clothing, and anything else they like, yes they use prefabricated tones to meet their drawing needs. Um, I'd like to recommend 'How to draw Manga' it's what I personally use.
