You asked about the Zelos event on one of my pics...To get to that point in the game, you have to have a good relationship with Zelos in the game, by using him at the colesium to rescue Kate, complete his sidequests, and agree with him on just about everything.
During the Flanoir scenes after you escape Welgaia, he will come to Lloyd's room and ask him if he wants to go and talk, say yes, and you should hear about Zelos' past...
