You don't need to know how to work a computer to program. I would recommend that you do know, as it leads to better practices while programming, but it isn't completely necessary.
If you are interesting in learning about computers, look up the terms "Hardware" and "Software" and then read about how the two are different. Next study what an OS (aka Operating System) is, and how it functions to bring hardware together with programs/software. If you have the interest you can start learning and it will almost come naturally as you learn.

Truth be told, I wasn't smart enough either.
The admin here, Denis, was the one who gave me information I needed on how to start programming in PHP. By the time I had started developing for FAC, I was barely out of Novice stages.
I couldn't really keep up with FAC, and my code was crap. So when life started getting out of control for me, I stopped. Instead of coming back to FAC when I had some more time, I decided to further my skills, and I made several different websites on my own. By the end of my interest in my own work, I had a complete set of code that can launch a website within a day.
Now confident in my skills, and having time to help out; I've returned to clean up the mess I had made, and further expand FAC the best way I can! :)
