Hey there. I only know of one way to make moving avatars, but I'm pretty new to the whole thing myself. The way that I made mine was in adobe image ready/photoshop. (If you don't have ImageReady or photoshop, then sorry, I'm not really going to be much help.)If you do have them then here's how you do it.First take/make a photoshop image, it has to have layers.The layers are what will become your animation, the more layers you have, the longer your animation can be.
Then you save it and open it in Image ready. Duplicate the frames and change the visible layer. Do this for all of your layers and you'll have an animated avatar. You can change the frame length by clicking the time by the bottom right hand corner of the picture in your animation sequence.
Last, save it as a .gif, otherwise your animation won't go.
Sorry if this didn't make a lot of sense, I am, by no stretch of the imagination a pro or anything more than an amateur at this. I don't know if this helps or not, but there you go.
