i know this doesnt help the situation to much, but that has happened to me so much, ive learned to not make so many friends. my advice is to find one good friend, you know a best friend, and keep them.
besides, if you lost them to popularity, then they werent your true friends anyway, is the way i see it.
which to me, makes you the better person, because you want friends who like you for who you are, not what you have.
