Usually, new members' pictures are not uploaded right way (the person approving your pictures may have been really quick). They usually have to have a certain number of good approved pictures to get "auto-approve" (instant uploading). You probably just had a approver that approved you pictures quickly. ;O

From my database, your pictures still go through the approval staff like normal. The only thing that may have delayed your picture's uploading is that the approving staff is busy or there is a high amount of pictures to look at other than yours. Usually, the approving system takes about a day and a half, but if it takes 2+ days, someone may be absent/busy. Sometimes it is worth it to just be patient if the picture does not come through fast enough.
