It's hard to joke on the computer (trust me, I KNOW) because people can't see your face or hear your voice. They can't tell the difference. That's why you have to make a joke really REALLY obvious. I mean, you basically have to tell them you're making a joke AS you tell it. It's tough.

I don't think she left only because of you. I think maybe she just needed a little time to herself, away from everyone else.
