Todd: ... M... my eyes... they... they hurt...

Sam: *sits down next to him again* Then don't open them... D:>

Key: *she can tell--there's really no other explanation. All the symptoms were there. But she swore she wouldn't say anything, so she'll keep her mouth shut...*

Todd: I-I'm not... but they still hurt...!

Bobby: *he sounds awful* WHO IS - G-GO AWAY! D8<

Bobby: ... *he opens the door - he looks as bad as Todd, but with the addition of strange sores all over his body. The smell of bile drifts out from behind him*

Sam: *lightly touches his eyes with her fingertips* ... <:(

Key: *glances out of the room* Where's Harry...?

Sam: *sighs* Maybe Bobby's giving him a hard time... be right back. *gets up and goes out of the room, down the hall to Bobby's apartment*

Sam: *can hear the noise down the hallway, and sees the door open. knowing that there MUST be something wrong, she runs in and sees Bobby holding Harry against a wall* !!!!!! *grabs the closest solid item she can find--a frying pan--and whacks Bobby in the back of the head with it*

Todd: *smiles a little at her, even with his eyes closed*

Key: *briefly smiles back, but it fades when she remembers he can't see him* ...

Sam: ...Should probably get that patched up before it gets infected or something...

Harry: *he sits down at the table with Key and Sam, eating a spoonful of his cereal, then asking his question -* ... Am I really that creepy to you, Sam?

Sam: *glances up at him, surprised by the question, then looks back down at her bowl* ........Maybe.

Key: ....?

Harry: ... Maybe isn't an actual answer. Or at least, I don't believe it is. Todd thinks I'm an okay sort of guy, doesn't he? Why do you think he does?

Sam: He's known you since you were kids, he obviously sees something no one else can. I guess.

Key: ... :/

Harry: So what do you see, Sam? Please, do describe what you see. I'd love to hear it. And please. Be honest.

Sam: *raises an eyebrow* You want me to be honest? *sighs, and prods at her cereal with her spoon* ...I see a guy no one talks to. Whenever someone does, all they get is a sarcastic, biting remark, so no one ever wants to try again. I see a guy who never talks to anyone except for a handful of people. *glances up at Harry* I see a guy I know nothing about, because he won't let anyone else in... And not knowing anything about someone scares me off, because I don't know what to say.

Key: *is actually surprised by her answer. Perhaps she wasn't as shallow as she originally thought...*

Harry: *he's rendered speechless. He sit there, silents, looking away from Sam, to his bowl of cereal, which was barely touched. But then he speaks again, after some time, he speaks* ... I don't let anyone in except a select few, because this school holds a new record for the amount of sniveling MONSTERS they can fit into one college. Mostly I don't talk to anyone because of what I've had to deal with before. *quietly* What do you think it's like to have no childhood? I don't... I don't normally tell people this... in fact, only the people I like, and the two people I HATE know about a particular part of my life that has managed to dominate my mindset for god knows how long. This creepy, strange man you see before you, Sam, is an accident of a child, hated by his parents, beaten by his father, turned into an outcast by society because I simply didn't know how to act. No one taught me. No one except Todd, who's able to see the positive in everyone. I wish I could do the same.

Key: *She already knew all of this-- she just wants to see Sams reaction* ....

Sam: *it's her turn to be left completely speechless. She had no idea, about ANY of this. she never would have been able to guess...*

Harry: ... I guess there was really no point in keeping that from you anymore...

Sam: *after a few moments of looking utterly shocked, she looks back down at her cereal and prods at it again* ...I'm sorry... I had no idea...

Key: ... *goes back to eating her cereal*

Harry: ... Really, no one does. I just wanted to be normal. I guess normality is something you can only really achieve through a normal family. I was doomed from the start.

Sam: ...Well... you made it this far, right? You have Todd... and Key...

Key: *looks up, almost expectantly* ...

Sam: ... *sighs* ...You need more friends...

Harry: ... I'm okay with my two close friends.

Key: *smiles a little bit, glad to be one of those two*

Sam: Well, if you say so. *eats some cereal*

*a loud, painful-sounding coughing sounds out from inside Todd's room*

Harry: ... *sprints into Todd's room to see if his friend is okay*

Todd: *shivering all over, groaning weakly. Some blood has splattered onto his pillow where he coughed*

Harry: Oh no... oh no, oh no, oh no...

Sam: ??? *gets up and follows him* What's wrong?? D:>

Key: !! *gets up and also follows them, but can't see past them due to her height* D:

Harry: *he walks into the room, over to where Todd lay* No, no, no, no...

Todd: *weakly looks up at him* ...?

Sam: D8!!! OH MY GOD--Harry, should I go get Bobby again?? D8>

Key: *pushes past Sam so she can see* D8!!

Harry: How is he?

Sam: He um... he has a really bad fever... <:/

Harry: Nothing important. To you, anyway.

Todd: ...

Sam: I'm just as worried about him as you are, Harry. What aren't you telling me? >:/

Harry: I'm just thinking, the stairs probably infected him or whatever and now he's going to turn into a stair-zombie. Hanging around the stairs during gym. Smoking pot. Fighting against "the man". That whole thing. It's devastating.

Todd: ...

Sam: *rolls her eyes, and steps out of the room, closing the door behind her* Very funny, Gatzsky. :/

Key: ... *eats her cereal*

Harry: I really am. You should see my writing. Full of dead baby jokes.

Key: *snorts, trying to hold back a laugh*

Sam: *sighs, somewhat exasperated* Har har. Is there anything I could eat? I'd rather not leave Todd...

Harry: *glad to get off the subject of what he is so worried about* I poured you a bowl of cereal.

Sam: Oh! ...Thank you. *goes over to take the bowl, and eats* ...

Key: ... *eats quietly*

Key: Mess up your head? I-I don't know... But they were definitely right when they said it was serious... D;

The Next Morning

Todd: *is clammy and pale and cold with a fever of 102°F. He shivers in his bed*

Harry: *is asleep*

Sam: *wakes up next to Todd. she's still hugging him, so she immediately feels that something's wrong. She puts a hand on his forehead, and feels how warm he is* Uh oh.

Key: *is still asleep on the couch*

Todd: *he wakes up from Sam's cold hand against his head - the light in the room makes him squint, his eyes feeling they they've caught fire* ...Ssmmftoo bright...

Sam: Shhshh, close your eyes then... I think you have a fever.....

Todd: *he groans weakly, closing his eyes as instructed. His paleness is awfully abnormal - he's paper white*

Sam: Jeez, Todd, you look like a ghost... D; Here, hang on... *gets out of bed, and tiptoes out of the room to the kitchen to grab some ice for Todd*

Key: *moves around a bit, but doesn't wake up*

Sam: *puts some ice in a bag and goes back to the room, carefully placing it on Todd's head* ... <:(

Harry: *fully awake now* Mmf... *he wonders how Todd is doing. He goes into the main room and decides to pour everyone some cereal*

Key: ... *sits on the couch, a bit upset. Yes, she was glad that Todd was going to be okay, but... she did NOT like the idea of him and Sam getting back together* ........

Todd: *unconscious*

Sam: ...

Harry: Alright - *he shovels his hands under Todd* Get his head, we'll lift up in three.

Todd: *unconscious*

Key: *nods and carefully puts her hands under his head* Ready.

Sam: *watches, standing by in case they needed help* ...

Harry: One... two... three! *lifts Todd up with Key and moves him into his bedroom, into his bed. After they successfully do this, Harry looks at Todd... just looks* ... Why couldn't you listen to me... WHY...?

Todd: *unconscious*

Sam: ...I-I just don't get how STAIRS could...

Key: ....

Harry: ... *quietly* ... He tripped and fell, and his neck landed right on the edge of the step... *angrily* I don't want to have to EXPLAIN this twenty times! That's what HAPPENED! D:<

Todd: *groans quietly, pathetically, his voice rough and hoarse*

Harry: D: !

Sam: *wasn't very pleased by Harry yelling at her, but Todd's slight movement drew her attention* !!! *very carefully sits down on the edge of the bed, looking over him* Todd... can you hear me? D:>

Key: !

Todd: Mnngh... *he opens his eyes a crack and carefully turns his head over to see Sam* ... Sorta... ears'r'ringing...

Harry: <:D !!

Key: *sighs in relief*

Sam: Oh, thank GOD...! How are you feeling? Besides hurting? D;

Todd: ... Confused... I... there was a...?

Harry: You fell down the stairs, Todd.

Todd: ... I did...?

Harry: You ran, tripped, and fell down the stairs. You split your neck open on the edge. Bobby helped fix you.

Todd: ... Oh... thas good...

Sam: It really is... *sighs* I'm just glad someone found you...

Key: ....

Todd: ... Mhm... glad someone... uh... found me, too. *smiles a little*

Sam: *lightly touches his face, careful not to move his head* ....

Harry: *he runs into his room and tears off a piece of his bed sheet. He runs back to the main room, wads up the sheet strip and presses it against Todd's bleeding neck* KEY, HOLD THIS DOWN, I NEED TO GET BOBBY!

Todd: *dying*

Key: *immediately does as she's ordered, gawking at the amount of blood coming out of Todd's neck* DDDDDDDDDDD8>

Harry: *runs to Bobby's room, knocking on the door, panicked*

Bobby: frack! Do you know how early it is, you fracking FAG? D8<

Harry: TODD'S DYING! PLEASE, HELP HIM!! D8>

Bobby: What...? D8 *he immediately gets his medical supplies and runs with Harry to his and Todd's apartment*

In the Apartment

Bobby: *he removes the wadded up sheet from Todd's neck and inspects the wound* ... How did he get this? D:<

Harry: He fell down the stairs - just - just HELP him - PLEASE!

Bobby: ... *he gets out his supplies and begins working on Todd as best as he can*

Key: *watches, panicked, too worried to even go wash Todd's blood off her hands* DDDDDDDDD8>

Todd: *getting fixed up by Bobby*

Bobby: *he works, works as best as he can* ... Sam would want to know what's happened.

Harry: I... I-I'll go get her... *he runs off to get Sam, knocking on her apartment door*

Sam: *opens the door, her expression quickly going from confused to unamused* It's six in the morning, what the hell do you want?

Key: *looks up and is a bit upset by Sam's presence, but is too worried about Todd to dwell on it for too long* ...

Bobby: I don't know. I think so. Maybe I'm just a medical STUDENT, Harry! D8<

Todd: *getting fixed*

Sam: J-Just shut up and fix him, Bobby! D8>

Key: ..........

Bobby: He's... I think he's okay now. I stitched up his neck, he just... uh... he needs blood. Hang on, I think there's a blood bag in here that works with his blood type... *looks around his bag* ... Alright... *he sets it up, putting blood back into Todd, slowly but surely*

*two hours later*

Bobby: ... He's really okay now. I'm gonna... go wash my hands... bye. *he gets up and leaves*

Todd: *unconscious*

Harry: ... Why... why'd he have to...?

Sam: How the hell did he hurt himself THAT BADLY because of STAIRS? D8

Key: *realizes she has blood on her hands, and goes into the kitchen, now thoroughly freaked out*

Harry: *thinks quickly - no - no one could know the truth. They might take Todd away -* Th-the edge of the step - h-he tripped, a-and it just...!

Todd: *unconscious*

Sam: J-Jeez... W-Well... at least he's going to be okay... D:>

Key: *comes back out of the kitchen* D:> ...

Harry: I can see that.

Key: Well, I'd rather not see you get sick and die. So. yeah. D;>

Harry: So... uh, I'm gonna go to my room and write and smoke and whatever else I can think of. Bye for now. *he gets up and leaves*

Todd: Allllright then. :/

Key: *finishes her cereal* ...WELL then... How to amuse ourselves...

Todd: Uhhh... haha, I dunno. Uh. I've got some books...? And I've got paper and stuff... and... uhhh... mnnn... I dunno. D;

Key: Do you have... like... cards? Or something? D:

Todd: Uhhh maybe. Lemme go check! *runs off to do so*

Key: *puts her cereal bowl in the sink, and waits around*

Todd: *comes back with some cards* Lookit! Look, I got some! :D

Key: AH! Yay, we can amuse ourselves with these for a while. :D

Todd: Yaaay! I'll set up the cards - we can play Go Fish I guess. XP

Key: Perfect. ^^

Todd: *he sets up the cards, and the two of them play card games for a few hours*

*after a while, they go to bed. Key goes back to the couch with an extra blanket to avoid any more awkward encounters. The next morning...*

Key: *is asleep on the couch*

Todd: *trying to sneak out. He manages to open the window, when -*

Todd: *growling at him* ... You're not my dad, Harry... you never were. *he then leaps out of the window and runs on the rooftops*

Harry: D8> !!! *he doesn't know what to do - he looks around the room and spots and old baseball bat. He needs to go after Todd... and something... something is telling him to take that bat with him*

Key: *wakes up* Aah, wha...? *spots Harry* Hey, Harry... What's going on? D;

Harry: He left - Todd left, and I need to... to, oh god... *he takes the bat and runs out of the apartment*

Todd: *running on the rooftops, he never sees the infected man until he pushes Todd off the roof* D8 !!!??? NO frack frack frack!! *he manages to grab onto the edge of a fire escape losing momentum in his fall but hurting his arms* AAGH...!! *he allows himself to drop into an ally below him, stumbling a bit and hitting a brick wall, panting, exhausted, in shock from his near-death experience, and hurting. Infected Man: *drops after Todd, landing without (seemingly) hurting himself. He screams at Todd*

Todd: *manages to turn and look at the man standing before him* Oh... oh fuh... frack...I-I don't have any money, j-just...

Infected Man: *he runs at Todd and bites into his throat*

Todd: *his howl of pain quickly dies in his throat, and it only takes a few seconds for him to reach the verge of passing out*

Infected Man: *suddenly he's smacked right in the head with a baseball bat. He falls, but this doesn't stop his attacker from hitting him again until he's dead*

Harry: T-Todd...! Oh shoot, TODD...!! D8>

Todd: ... H... Har...?

Harry: frack, frack, why didn't you LISTEN to me...?? *he picks Todd up and RUNS with him, runs as fast as he can back to the apartment. He manages to open the door quickly with one hand and place his dying friend on the floor*

Key: *had been pacing nervously the whole time they were both gone, praying that they would come back okay--when Harry opens the door, she realizes that had apparently been too much to ask for* O-OH GOD--!! D8>

Key: *still blushing furiously* snrf...

Harry: So the power's still out.

Todd: ONTO CEREAL, THEN! >:D *eats his cereal*

Key: ... XP *gets up from the couch and grabs her own bowl, then eats*

Todd: *EATS*

Harry: *eat his bowl of cereal* ...

Key: *also eats* ....

Todd: I am very fond of this cereal. >:O *EATS*

Harry: Don't choke.

Todd: I'm NOT! *EATS*

Key: *snickers, and keeps eating. she wondered how they were going to entertain themselves for the next few weeks...*

Todd: *finishes his cereal*

Harry: *eats*

Todd: I haaaate being kept inside like this... DX I HATE it...

Harry: It's for our own safety.

Key: Hopefully it won't be for too much longer... <:/ *eats*

Harry: Well, going outside isn't an option.

Key: From what I'm hearing, that flu is pretty serious... like, "if you get it you could DIE" serious. D;

Todd: So what's CEDA doing? Aren't they supposed to be finding a cure for this thing? Or trying to contain it? Whatever?

Harry: They're working as hard as they can, Todd.
