You can get smaller versions of your pictures not slowly but very fast: Tadam: PhotoFilter. It has an incorporated option that allows you to resize your image to the required lenght and resolution. It'll save you time space and money...
Just joking... abouth that last part but it's true. If you'll kindly see my gallery you shall observe at the dimensions that almost every picture i uploaded has an 1450 pixel on whatever dimention is grater... Except my big grined wrath... he's big indeed.
