You're gonna want to kill him, I promise. XDIt was decided that it should be a shootout. A large group of guards and officials took Gallows to an abandoned desert valley called Tora Valley, into an abandoned shrine that was in a deep cave.
Layne, was one of the officials. Using his powers of mentality, he took control of one of the men and made him shoot himself, quickly blaming Gallows and used the excuse to shoot Gallows in the right hand (which, if you look in all the pic with him, he has a scar there) The other men freak and shoot as well, hitting Gallows five times: once in the right hand, through his left shoulder, into his right thigh, and grazed both of his sides.
Luckily, Seth was there (this was before he Gallows knew him) because he was a friend of Layne's and called off the shooting. Gallows, not wasting a second, turns and runs off into the shrine, the men quickly following. It splits into a fork, Gallows goes one way, the men another. Seth, being an excellent tracker, follows Gallows to find the boy, dying, bleeding, not only from the gunshot wounds, but from the new cuts running across his wrists. Before Seth could tend to him, a salamander (fire lizard) comes and begins battle, constantly hitting a certain wall from Seth's dodging. On the other side of the wall, the men are hooking up bombs to get through...
Too much pressure is released, and the cave begins to collapse.

After two years, Galishina is now the most feared of the assassins, more than the whole group themselves. Even they fear him. One night, he overhears his group talking about investigating a company that plans to have nothing to do with the war and completely withdraw weapon manufacturing. What catches his ear his the name of the leader, "Elaina Kuberugi" and for a moment, hopes are high. Then.......he hears the words "engaged".The last of his heart and will had been broken.
Then next night, the assassins sneak into the camp of the company and Gallows finds Elaina's tent and sneaks into it to find her asleep. He walks over, kisses her, and says, "Goodbye." Then leaves.
Outside, he finds a lantern and catches an abandoned tent on fire, announcing his arrival and position. People flee in terror and soldiers are petrified, not knowing how to deal with him. Gallows, turns and "tries" to escape, but is shot by a tranquilizer by a man named Ruki. (who is the MOST HATED VILLAIN of our series...trust me) Elaina wakes up from the noise and rushes out to see Aquarius sprawled on the ground, but is not close enough to see him clearly.
Gallows is then taken away, the officials planning his form of execution.

Looking for his own death, Gallows begins to wander aimlessly, no longer caring about anything. In the series, at this time, we are at war (it's a made up one) and Gallows ends up stumbling upon a group of outcasts; assassins that wish to end the war through murdering groups and leaders of it. Gallows, who felt like his life no longer had meaning, suddenly decided to join with the group when he heard of travel. In his mind, he thought he would be able to find Elaina. Though, inwardly, all he wanted was to see if she was okay, not to be with her (though he desperately wanted to) because he felt like he didn't deserve her whatsoever after what had he had done.And so, the assassin, Galishina Aquarius (this is his full real name which he also used as his "alias") was born. He easily became the most feared, due to his cold and emotionless nature, silence, and quick, but numerous kill. One could say that he obtained the talent from Shadark.

Heh...not kinda... He WAS a momma's boy. Totally. But not in the pathetic sense. He just...loved her so deeply.A few days pass, and then, one stormy night, Mila's time had come. Her last words were spoken to Gallows, and then she died in her bed and in his arms. Gallows, utterly heartbroken, bolts out of the house and into the forest, sobbing and quickly losing his temper at what fate had done to his mother. Shane, and a young girl named Ellen, who happened to have a crush on Gal, see him run out of the village and decide to follow him.
Now...there's a reason Gallows hates being a snake. The guardian that he's reincarnated after, Shadark, was the reason the guardians didn't exist anymore. He killed them all off in bloodlust and was a cruel cold-blooded murderer after the death of his wife drove him into madness. He was finally stopped when his brother, the dragon, slayed him and, in return, was killed himself.
From the sins he committed, Shadark was cursed...therefore, Gallows was as well. These feelings of utter hatred and pure insanity drove him into...transforming into a literal monster; a cross between a sea serpent and a man, just before Shane and Ellen run in.
Gallows blacks out.
Later, he wakes up, in horrific pain, covered in blood, and looks over to see his brother nearly dead. He screams, tries to move and then notices that all but his left leg has changed back into a human form. It's a permanent mark of his sin. He then looks over to see Ellen, dead on the ground, her chest torn open. Feeling something wet, he looks down and sees her heart in his hand. This is pure evidence that Shadark took over; because the dragon's weak spot is the heart, and Shadark now loathes his brother.
After collecting himself, he takes both bodies, one dead, the other near it, and leaves them just outside the village where someone would quickly find them.
Without another word, he leaves, seeking death.

Yeah, I know...So, Gallows grows up, blaming himself for his mother's sickness, feeling that he somehow could've stopped it. He was very very tenderly close to his mom too. He had an unbelievably strong bond with her, which would explain why he took to Elaina so well when she landed in his life. Though way younger (4 to be exact) she had almost the same back story as Mila; running away from a family that she was the heir to while being engaged. After spending a couple years together, her family finally finds her and separates the two, just as they were begins to figure out their feelings.
...this is how Gallows' other personality is born. His dark side, which he calls his real name, "Galishina."
Several years pass, and Gallows isn't getting any better. He's in fact much worse. He's about 14 now, and went from being the most picked on, to the most feared.
It was also at this time that his mother's illness was becoming incredibly severe. Death is drawing near. At the time, his father has to leave for an unknown cause. Gallows and him get into an abrupt first and only fight before Roka leaves. Right before he does, Roka unintentionally and in anger blamed Gallows for Mila's illness, confirming Gallows own blame.
Without another word to each other, Roka leaves, and Gallows is left alone with his mother, grandmother, and brother.

Well...he's the reincarnation of the basilisk, guardian of mentality and he has a horrific grudge against Gallows, and Gallows vice-versa. Spoilers up ahead.I'll sum it up like this... Gallows' mother Mila, was the heir of a very powerful Russian family. She was engaged to Layne, who fell deeply in love with her, which she unfortunately couldn't return. One day, she disappeared (she actually, in a sense, ran away) leaving her apologies and a heart-broken Layne, who instantly began to seek her out.
...several years have passed, and with each year, Layne gets closer to finding her...
Now, Layne, at this point, is incredibly unstable in the mind and is extremely bipolar; just like Gallows. One day, he stumbles across a secluded Native American village, where he unexpectedly finds Mila. After watching her for a bit, he can see that see has a husband and child, a four year old Gallows, both which he starts to hate. Then, taking advantage of the little Gallows wandering into the forest and Mila running off to fetch him, Layne surprises Mila and ends up...raping her, little Gallows witnessing the whole thing. From that incident, Gallows' little brother, Shane is born, and Mila is forced with the sickness that ends up killing her, which is caused due to Layne having scientific work done on him that was sexually transferred to her.

Three days later he wakes up with the news of an orphaned boy saving both his and Gallows' life by dragging them to the hospital. Checking Gallows' (who's in a coma) room, he sees the boy sitting by Gallows' bedside with his brother.
