Sawyer

Hey, my name is Sawyer. I've had a leave of absence from Fanart Central these past couple years. I've changed alot since I was last submitting work.
My style and focus have changed dramatically, and I can almost say, in all truthfulness, that all work of mine featured witin the FAC galleries no longer represents me.
I look back on it, and it's all pretty much "foundation" work. It wont be too soon, but soon enough I'll have an updated portfolio to upload to FAC with alot of my current work and style.
I'm still a fan of American McGee's Alice and the Twisted Tales, and I still love all that kind of stuff. I still work primarily with Prismacolor Colored Pencils and graphite, but I do alot of work with the human figure, combined with contemporary surrealism and heavy use of color theory. (I cant display those images until they finish a gallery show, and thats gonna take awhile...sorry).
But I hereby promise to be more active on FAC, and I'll be refreshing my gallery section.
Meanwhile, I'm literally working overtime (8-10 hrs a day, 7 days a week) on a gallery show, so I'll be rare around here until thats taken care of....

But about me? Well I'm a student Illustrator at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. I'm not saying its a bad school at all, but honestly, if I could do it all over again, I'd spend the money on an art studio and teach myself, maybe take a couple essential classes, instead of buying a 4 year degree in art. That's pretty much what art school is.... Spend all your money here and get to be called an "ARTIST!!!" yay!!!! Seriously, it can take 20 years to fine tune your skills, and that comes with practice, not a degree...
Anyways... I love music. I listen to METAL!!!!! Im not an angry or aggressive person. I just love the sound of electric guitars and drums. Fav metal bands: Sonic Syndicate, Dragonforce, Wintersun.
But my fav bands are actually female lead gothic metal bands. I love Nightwish, or more so TARJA TURUNEN, and lots of other bands like Within Temptation, Darkwell, Elis, After Forever... you get the idea.
I love the outdoors. I go camping and hiking alot.
I love snakes. lol. Yes I want to buy a pet snake.
I love drawing.
and I love thunderstorms!!

I take requests, but between school and gallery work, I'm extremely busy and probly dont have much time right now. Still feel free to ask. Plz keep requests within my style. If you need anime requests, I'd reccomend 10,000 other artists in FAC before me....


Note to everyone: Keep drawing. You can only get better. No one is "the best." There will always be someone above your level, and there will always be someone below your level. The only things you can do wrong are being discouraged and quitting. I cant stress enough that skills in art take time and practice to develope. Nothing else will get you there. So just keep trying. If you dont like it, well its not gonna fix itself. You have to keep working at it, and you will do it.
Kinda cheezy? Kinda vague? Maybe, but entirely true. Dont cheat yourself, and go be an artist.
