***I did not draw this picture. This wonderful work of art belongs to shimoda7 of deviantART****
Art has always been an unchangeable aspect of my life. It is my one constant in a sea of chronic change. Although my style and subject matter has morphed over the years, my devotion and intimacy with art has remained constant. I do not recall a time I have not respected art, but I only became settled as an artist in the past five years. I have been a helpless addict ever since.
Artistic inspiration struck me first through video games. When I played video games, I entered their world of poignant beauty. Regardless of life's trials, I could take refuge in their realm of fantasy and magic. As quickly as I was captivated by the games' beauty, I wondered at their mystic powers. I grew tired of being their prey. How did the games hold me in their spell? There had to be a logical explanation. What were the game designers doing that I could not wrap my mind around? Subconsciously, I discovered their powers. They capture the emotions of the human soul and manifest it in human creativity. These games were artistic masterpieces devoted to arousing human emotions. They awoke a passion inside me. I wished to harness their power over emotive beauty and express it through my own individuality. This passion broke from me through a pencil and formed shape repeatedly on countless sheets of paper.
Though my artistic passions have changed form throughout the years, they are still boiling stronger than ever. I have branched away from my fanciful figure drawings and have developed an attachment to intense detail and meticulous portraits. I love to hint a smile through every crease of the skin, conduct movement through each strand of hair, and speckle magic in every shimmer of light. Art's impact in my past has focused who I am today. Just as video game once sheltered me from my mundane life, art diverts my mind from life's daily stresses. When I draw, I no longer worry about school, relations, or calories. Memorized as I draw, I nurture my creation to life. Art, whether from a video game or portrait drawing has always been my sanctuary.
