nextguardianHuh, I missed that one. I'm going to have to look. I'm re-reading the series, so when I hit the Kyoto arc, I'll take a look^^

Sitting around beats having homework^^

Let's see...the first thing I learned in Japanese was what to say when meeting someone for the first time. Sensei says it's pretty much 'nice to meet you'.

Hajimemashoote.
(Pronounced: Ha-gee-may-ma-sh-tay)

Then, you add your name:

Hajimemashoote, NG .
('' is pronounced 'des')

'Nice to meet you, I'm NG' is what you end up with.

nextguardianI could pass on some phrases and stuff to you, if you'd like. I've got most of my books handy, as it happens.

My day is going well, thank you. How about yours?

nextguardianWell, I got into Japanese originally for work reasons. It went with my martial arts, too. Reading manga got me into it. I found Japanese 101 at college (I'm in my second year, but I'm not taking a full course schedule). It's not too hard to speak, actually. (So far). It's the writing that's a killer. Three alphabets used interchangably...it hurts to think, lol.

But, yeah. There's a couple good books out there when it comes to learning. Read and Speak Japanese for Beginners is one. The other is 'Japanese the Manga way'. Both are easy to understand.
