if you're talking about the characters of hiragana, which is the standard writing in japanese language, each character represents a syllable such as ka, sa, ta, na, ha, ma, ya, ra, or wa. Squall's name is written in katakana which is used for foriegn words and names. Sound effects are also often written in katakana.neodusk on January 20, 2007, 9:01:53 AM
