"grrrr" i yelled from underneath the car. whiot was underneath the car in the next second."what's wrong with it?" he asked eyeing his ductaped handy-work. "we're missing a very crucial part of the brakes and we dont have a spare." i said angerily. "let's just walk there then" he suggested. "oh yeah like that wont attract attention. four 18 year olds walking in the margin between lanes on I-95." i said sarcasticly. "whats wrong with the car, now? why dont we just get a new one." ami's soft voice came from the aircontitioned seat behind the front desk. "the brakes broken. again" whiot explained. "is this it?" jasper called dangling off the 25 foot high self containing random parts. "no" i said. "it doesnt even look similar to that." i said disapprovingly. "we can't all be magical engineers." i heard him mutter still rumaging through the top shelf. i heard footsteps then a heartbeat. "quick " i yelled to jasper." someone-as in a human someone-is coming!" jasper jumped down and landed without a sound. "hello, welcome to the auto smith. how can i help you?" i heard ami's quiet calm--as if there wasnt a garage full of vampires in the next room who were going on the 'im extremly- thirsty-avoid-human-contact-at-all-costs point'--welcome our newest customer. "yeah uh im just picking up my car" he said nervously. his heartbeat quickened as he say jasper, me and whiot come through the back door. he swalloed loudly and his heartbeat quickened even more when we came closer.i wonder why there skin is so white? and those creepy death-stares they give the jerads. like theyre mortal enimies or something "your the owner of the '98 beetle right?" i asked trying to sound comforting. "y-y-yeah" he stuttered, then looked away nervously and his face filled with blood. in jaspers' mind he saw himself going over to the man and all within seconds biting his neck and enjoying the delicious blood. "jasper!" i whisper-yelled to low for the human to hear. he looked down and walked over to ami. "its ok you weren't going to do anything" she whispered comforting him. i handed the man his keys and he left quickly--well, quickly for a human. "so how are we going to get there? we only have a day or two before someone breaks down and preys on a human." i said looking at jasper and whiot from the corner of my eyes. men are so weak when it comes to promises. "i seriouisly say we run there" whiot said looking at jasper untill i felt a wave of agreement flood me. "fine" i said. whiot toke my hand and we walked together outside to work on another customers car. "bree its going to be ok. they'll probably think we're just some kids messing around in the highway." he said. he closed his eyes and leaned in for a kiss. i heard alices quiet laughter then, he slipped on oil and fell knocking me over. i could hear jaspers loud laughter. i smiled embrassed. we tried the brakes again but they still didn't work. "uhh!" whiot yelled and kicked the engine. i just shook my head and went into the shop, then to the back room.i started packing my clothes in the room me and ami shared. she came in and said "hey bree. when do you want to leave?" "i don't know. we could leave at sunset but we could run into others." i shivered at the last run-in with our kind. "or we could get run over by a car" i joked."do you think we'll be able to last 'till morning?" she asked. all of a sudden she had a flash. in her mind she saw whiot running around a strange forest at night. his eyes blood-red. the way there are when one of us has feasted on a human. i looked at her in horror. "tonight then" we said at the same time. after we were all packed all of our stuff shoved into one bag. so we only had one bag and the two tents, that we all toke turns carrying.

i looked up at the sky. the sun was still behind the clouds, thank goodness. then i looked down at my watchwe'd been at this for over 6 hours." we should be there in about another hour at this rate." i said. "another hour?!" whiot and jasper said together. "ive got a good idea if we want to get there before our feet fall off." ami said. in her mind she saw us running through the small forest to the left of the highway. "brillant" i said.


your side

I sat behind the desk in main room, listening to Brees' vent. God, when will she stop.
"What's worng with the car now?" Then I thought. "Why don't we just get a new one?"
"The brakes broken." I heard Whiot say. "Again."
"This it?" Jaspers' mellow voice rang through my ears.
I played with the engagement ring on my finger remembering. He had carried me to the middle of the forest after telling me he had a surprise. Then he proposed. We had been together for fifty years now and he finally grabbed the courage to ask.
"No. It doesn't even look similar to that." Brees' voice snapped me out of my daydream. Even my ears barely picked up the quiet sentence Jasper hissed.
"We can't all be magical engineers."
Then the door opened.
The bells attached to the handle made a jingling noise and I sat up, smiling.
"Hello, welcome to the Auto Smith. How can I help you?"
I was the newest vampire to our family but I'd already conquered human blood. It just didn't taste nice, more like mud.
"Yeah, um, I just came to pick up my car."
I heard his heartbeat speed up, his blood rushing quicker. Jazz, Whiot and Bree came through the back door. He swallowed loudly, his blood warming him.
"You're the owner of the '98 beetle right?" Bree asked.
I shot her the smallest glance that only our sharp eyes could spot. She was nice to the customer but to Jazz. Crap.
"Y-y-yeah..."
She must seen something bad since Bre hissed at him.
"Jasper!"
He looked down and stepped over to me.
"It's ok, you weren't going to do anything." I whispered so quietly only his ears could pick up.
The man took the keys and left quickly.
He was probably scared of them and he had every right to be.
"So, how are we going to get there? We only have a day or two before someone breaks down and preys on a human."
Brees' gaze flitted from Whiot to Jasper quickly.
I smirked.
I couldn't see anyone snapping but I said nothing. They could always make a sudden choice.
I seriously say we run there." Whiot said, looking at Jasper.
Jaspers black eyes fixed on Bree.
"Fine." She spat.
"Jasper, stop it!" I hissed to only him.
"What?"
"You know damn well what."
As Whiot took Brees' hand, something flashed across my eyes.
Whiot leaned forward to kiss her but slipped, knocking them both to the ground.
He gently tugged her into the garage.
I turned to Jasper, a stern expression on my face.
It took a lot to make me this mad.
"I wish you'd just let her make her own desicions."
"But-!"
"No excuses. It's bugging me and I wish you'd just cut it out."
I turned to walk back into the office before something grabbed me. I let out a squeak of shock as he yanked me back into his arms.
"Come on." He purred, pressing his cheek against the side of my neck.
He'd been the one that had bitten me. It was my eighteenth birthday and my brother had called me a freak because of the way I thought things might happen. They always did and I had ran off that morning into the forest.
Sadly, Jazz had been hunting and I stumbled across him. His mouth had been covered in blood, his eyes blacker than the darkest night.
Then, three things happened.
First, I had tried to run, fear taking over.
Second, he had chased after me, after my blood.
Third, he'd caught me.
He ripped himself away, realizing what he had just done to me.
I had changed. His beautiful face had been contorted with rage and self hatred. "Don't you dare."
My voice was low and angry with him.
Then I couldn't stop myself from feeling in love and happy.
I was going to kill him... Somehow...
I heard a thud from outside and smirked, muttering to Jazz what I'd seen.
He laughed loudly, breaking his hold off me.
"I hate when you do that!"
The door opened again.
Me and Jasper stiffened and looked up.
The door opened and a sharp scent entered the room.
"Typical. Will's not here and instead I get the sickest couple ever."
I narrowed my eyes, the sharpness of ice on my tounge.
"Oh, so you and Jen broke up?"
He glared at me, a sudden line of red crossing his tan cheeks.
"I just came to get my dads' car." He growled.
"Fine, take the keys and get out before your stench kills me."
Arcani chuckled.
"Nice one, corpse."
Jasper threw the keys towards him and watched as he left.
"Ugh! I smell dog!"
Bre walked into the room, her forehead creased in frustration.
"Just missed him, lucky you."
"Whiot just kicked the car."
I groaned.
"Crap! What did he leave?"
She sighed.
"He screwed the entire motor."
Jasper let go of me.
I hadn't realized he'd still been holding me until he stepped back
