Hmm. Everyone in manga does look pretty much the same. Though it really depends on the artist ... I think her skin tone looks a little light for Chinese, as does her hair. However, you do make a very good point in mentioning the way none of the other manga-ka seem to pay that any mind. Their supposedly 'Japanese' characters have European-toned skin.

Though, quite honestly, I'm so lazy that I'd probably think up some lame excuse for why that is. I really don't like redesigning my characteres once I have their appearance set, plotholes aside. But I do like the charactere design itself.
