yeah i was playing yesterday when remembered a conversation with a japanese student when i was younger. there where these ducks we had in our class. that i learned from the Japanese(cant remember his name) kid that the japanese have an Onomatopoeia word for just about every sound and he told the word for the sound the duck where making while eating is Pakku-Pakku more specifically the sound it when its mouth open and closes.it around that time relized the meaning of Pac-Man. Pac-Man is Pakku-Man, a man who can't stop a man who cant stop eating or can't stop consuming and that many people are Pac-Men themselves. Consumer continually buying to drown out the fear of Failure, Rejection, Loss or Death. And when they finally get there hands on what they always wanted, a Power Pellet if you will, they feel powerful enough to take on the world. But sadly the feeling is only temporary and there fears will eventually rear there ugly heads once and the cycle continues and they move onto the next big thing hoping that it will satisfy them.
in other its an allegory on consumerism, insecurity, fear, and addiction.of course i might be over analysing Pac-Man looking for meaning where there may be be none. hope this makes sense
