I've never heard of those kinds of colored pencils before. Maybe I'm having trouble with that because I rely more on the inking part. XD I've just seen so many people with all this great art (and I love how the colors come out) and I just can't seem to figure out how they do it with just colored pencils.

hmm here's what i do. i practice shading a lot. i practice to control my PRESS on the colored pencils. on lighter parts, i practice controlling my hand in a light manner, and on darker parts, i really practice the gradient effect by applying more pressure. even in school, i do doodles just for the sake of doing it. i just draw some lines with no patterns at all and then realize that the lines i drew portrayed some patterns, whuch will then serve as a thumbnail for an incoming artwork. :p with drawing random stuffs, i discover ideas AND new techniques. that's how i got my style in colored pencils. but people usually mistaken my colored pencil artworks for pastels and sometimes even digital media. WTH. perhaps because my press on the pencils is, again, hard. with inks, i just control my hand from not shaking too much, as it affects the quality/overall appeal of the artwork. i experiment with thin and thick lines, as seen in most of my "INK combined with pencils" artworks. before i ink my artworks, i first do them using pencils, and when everything seems ok, i then apply the ink. this prevents me from making the artwork look unplanned and nasty. you can even see in my artworks that the initial pencil marks aren't erased. LOL.
lastly, with my artworks, i never start inking/coloring them without drawing an initial pencil sketch. this helps me sum up my ideas and this greatly helps the aesthetic outcome of the piece.
well, i hope all of these helps. goodluck! :)
