but NOW! allow me to baffle and astound you with my amazing and stunning computer savvy knowledge! ^^
you can do it quite eisilly in photoshop. you go to the tab where you find "save for the web" and further down the tab there should be an option named "automate" go into that and select "fit image" do this BEFORE you save it for the web. from there you can regulate the sixe of an image. mine are for landcape : width 1000, height : 500 and for portrait : height: 1000 and width : 500 whatever size it apears in the "save for web" window is the size it will be on here.
