I use photoshop for all the colouring since I can't use anything else.
As for skills? Hmm...basically I use the brush and smudge tools mostly. When colouring, I use both hard and soft edged brush. For hard edged brush, set the opacity to somewhere around 5-10% and soft edged brush to 40-50%. Most of the time I use the hard edged brush first. Keep clicking (I use mouse, no tablet for me) to get the desired tone. Then use the soft edged brush to create gradients. Sometimes I use the smudge tool to create creases on clothes.
I read some tutorials before but none of them worked out for me so I develop my own colouring techniques instead. It's really hard to explain in details. But just focus on the brush tool, play around with the opacity and use both soft/hard edged brush. All the other tools like dodge, burn and gradient aren't really useful for me.
