Lucifer: *snaps out of his thoughts, quickly looking away from Claire* U-uh - we - we could go to Death City.

Sarah: Right...

*they all sneak out of the city, into the forest*

Claire: It's not safe for us in Life City anymore. :/

Claire: *nods. for a moment, she briefly wonders if vampires and werewolves hated each other here like they supposedly should... she shakes the thought away*

*and so they walked, everyone cautious because of Aroothian's warning, even when a full moon isn't even out that night - though it seemed that the moon changes quicker than the one on earth, as already it is a half moon again*

Lucifer: We should stop here.

Iratus: *plops down on the grassy ground, tired of walking* DX

Harry: *leans himself against a tree*

Todd: *sits against a tree in his normal fetal position*

Sam: :/ *he tries going to sleep against a tree*

Sarah: *lays on her back on the ground, looking up at the trees* ......

Lucifer: *he stares at Claire for the longest time, before finally speaking* ... Claire. Can I... talk to you? In private?

Todd: *fetal position*

Everyone Else: *asleep*

Claire: *glances at Harry, then back at Lucifer* ...Sure. *stands up*

Everyone else: *zzzing*

Lucifer: ... Thank you. *he leaves with her deeper into the forest until they are alone* ... I still feel that longing for your other self, Claire... and it bothers me. It bothers me more because it's just the punishment I've given myself for what I've done.

Claire: Well, I'm sorry... I don't know what I can do about it, though. :/

Lucifer: *a small debate battles out in his head as he thinks of what to do, what to say next. He most definitely cannot use his powers on her. That's wrong, it's manipulative, he's an ANGEL for gods-sake, and ANGELS do NOT use their powers for self gain... and yet... that temptation is still there. Everyone but them is still asleep. Everyone. No one will know. No one will judge him or kick him out of the group, if he just... the temptation is there, and the temptation is too great. He just wants to be with her again. It's what he's wanted since letting her go. He mingles his power into his voice, which, rather than a suggestion, is more like a statement. A command* ... You can come here and stay close to me...

Claire: *finds herself stepping closer* ...Well, alright...

Altodd: Wait - *he just now notices that his body is once more covered in hair* ... OH MY GOD. DX

Mikaela: *only just notices as well--she tries to hold in a snicker, but fails* pfft... WELL then... XD;

Altodd: *gets his clothes on* I hate being a werewolf, I hate it I hate it I HATE IT...

Altodd: *leaves with Mikaela to see Bibentus*

Lucifer: *he finds himself more and more distracted by Claire's presence, far too easily reminded of what he had before* So... so the eyes are... uh... dealt with.

Lucifer: We obviously can't stay HERE, in the home city of the man hunting for us.

Sarah: Were else could we go, then? You have any other secret hideouts somewhere? :/

Mikaela: *lets it, only just noticing how COLD it was, which is quite an accomplishment. not many things are colder than her. she shivers a bit--now that she was out from under the covers and away from Altodd without her coat on, she was starting to feel the night air. she doesn't shy away from the Umbra, though. he isn't doing anything wrong, right?* ...

Umbra: *it holds its hand there for a while before backing away from Mikaela, over to Altodd, staring at him for a while more before disappearing without a sound*

Altodd: *asleep*

Mikaela: ... *sighs, and lays back down next to Altodd, snuggling back into him for warmth. if the umbra changed, she wonders, maybe HE could have too? ...no... hah, that's crazy...*

Altodd: *in his sleep, he smiles, snuggling back against Mikaela. Good dreams, it seems... good dreams*

Mikaela: *smiles at this, and tries to push the OTHER him into the back of her mind. she gently rubs his back, lightly nuzzling him* ... <3

Altodd: *his smile widens a bit more. His hand feels around until it lightly touches her shoulder, rubbing it a little. He mumbles in his sleep* ... Mmm... s'mhgood...

Mikaela: *smiles a bit more widely, and whispers* What was that?

Altodd: *he answers her out loud as well as in his dream* ...Feels... good...

Mikaela: Glad to hear that... *continues to nuzzle him*

Altodd: *he nuzzles her back a little, asleep*

The Next Day

Altodd: *waking up* Mmh... morning, Mikaela...

Mikaela: Good morning... *nuzzles him* ...sleep okay?

Altodd: I really, really did, actually. :)

Mikaela: That's good... So um... this Umbra... just kinda... um... popped up last night.

Altodd: ... Just kinda... out of nowhere? That an't be right. I didn't CALL one... are you sure you weren't just seeing things? D8

Mikaela: No, I definitely wasn't... It was really weird, it had a FACE... and it tried to talk to me...

Altodd: ... He thinks it is... he's always like "if only I had been faster" or "I should have killed Shidako when I had the chance" ...

Mikaela: ... *goes back to combing through his hair, unable to think of anything to say. she hated to admit it, but.... every time the other Altodd was brought up, he almost seemed like less of a monster... but... wasn't that what he was? It must be--no one else would have done what he did...*

Altodd: ... I don't really know this Sam person like he did... I do know that she was why he killed himself, though...

Mikaela: *hugs him just a bit more tightly* Could we not talk about this anymore? Please?

Altodd: ... *he whispers to her* ... Okay... *he nuzzles her, then closes his eyes, trying to sleep*

Mikaela: *closes her eyes, trying to keep her mind from wandering too far into places she would rather stay out of* ...

Altodd: *it doesn't take long for him to fall asleep*

Mikaela: *spends the entire night trying NOT to think about those memories, no, no ANYTHING but those...*

Middle of the Night

Umbra: *it has a face. A mouthless face, but a face nonetheless, it's eyes glowing through the hood it loosely wears. It crawls over to the bed, over to the side Mikaela lies on. It stares with a gentleness. With love*

Altodd: *asleep*

Mikaela: *has the strangest feeling that something's watching her... she remembers the other night, and looks up--she forces herself to contain a startled squeak, so Altodd wouldn't wake up. Yes, she had expected an Umbra, but... not one with a FACE... she stares right back at it, a bit unsettled, but not quite afraid--it didn't seem hostile at all* ...

Umbra: *it seems to bubble out quiet words... though the words are spoken in a strange language* ... Al'Kaime... Bru'um sis pa'yahsp thwis Al'Kaime...

Altodd: *remains asleep*

Mikaela: *narrows her eyes in confusion and strains to hear the words, but still can't understand* ...?

Umbra: ...Bru'am onso thur oyu... Umbra onso l'ilk oyu... bru'um nad Umbra leki oyu...

Altodd: *quite asleep*

Key: ... *looks over at Altodd to make sure she wasn't going to wake him up, and slowly sits up. she whispers to the Umbra* I can't understand you...

Altodd: *still asleep*

Umbra: ... Ssss... *it puts its clawed hand over Mikaela's* ...

Mikaela: *almost flinches away, fearing another onslaught of terrifying mental images, but she relaxes when nothing happens. she looks down at their hands, then back at the Umbra's face. Altodd had mentioned that they were changing, but how could such horrid, terrifying beings suddenly become so... gentle?* ....

Altodd: *snuggles against Mikaela like a dog would to his owner*

Mikaela: *hugs him, combing her claws through his hair* <3

Altodd: *smiles warmly when she does this, putting a hand on her cheek*

Key: *closes her eyes and sighs, smiling. she keeps combing through his hair*

Altodd: I love you Mikaela... *he kisses her, happy*

Mikaela: *kisses him back* I love you too...

Altodd: *he nuzzles her* ... This still feels strange, though... after all that's happened before between us...

Key: *sighs* ...I think it's best if we move on... I'd rather think about now than then...

Altodd: ... If only it had been different, though... would... THIS be different?

Mikaela: ....that's a really good question.... I guess it just depends on the circumstances...

Altodd: ... I guess so... *quietly* ... He still talks to me, you know...

Mikaela: *just as quietly* ...What does he say?

Altodd: ... He tells me about the Umbra... of the things they whisper to him... tells me that they're changing... and he tells me about you... of how it feels to be with you and yet... not... and then... then he's also there when I fight... helps me...

Mikaela: ...So he doesn't hurt you anymore?

Altodd: ... No... we're fine now... but he does also talk about Sam... he's heartbroken about what happened to her... he's BEEN heartbroken...

Mikaela: ...He knows that wasn't his fault, right?

Altodd: *follows Mikaela out, taking her hand and holding it* ...

Mikaela: ? ... *squeezes his hand reassuringly*

Altodd: *he walks with her like that until they reach their room, to which then Altodd kisses Mikaela's cheek, nuzzling her a bit* ... I'm scared of the very thought of dying... and I know what it's like...

Mikaela: *nuzzles him back* I know how it feels too... We'll be fine, okay? I'll make sure nothing happens to us. <:(

Altodd: ... Could you really promise something like that? <:(

Mikaela: Maybe not... but I can try, right? <:(

Altodd: ... Yeah... <:) *he hugs her, still feeling somewhat scared... somewhat sad*

Mikaela: *hugs him back, nuzzling him, trying to be reassuring. she was a bit scared too, though she was trying to hide it, for Altodd's sake*

Altodd: ... So the others are in Life City... I wish we could be with them...

Mikaela: ...mhmm... maybe it'd be safer with them... maybe...

Altodd: ... Maybe... *he scratches his back, frustrated with how itchy he's gotten in the last few days* XC

Mikaela: *laughs a little bit, and rubs his back* You know, you CAN shave all that off.

Altodd: ... I'll, uh... be right back, then... *he quickly runs over to the bathroom. It takes an hour for him to shave everything off*

Mikaela: *lays on the bed while she waits, staring at the ceiling. She wonders what task Bibentus will assign them tomorrow...*

Altodd: *he walks out of the bathroom, his torso bare and shaven, carrying his coat* ^^

Mikaela: *smiles at him, not getting up* Feeling better now? X)

Altodd: Much... X) *he crawls into bed next to Mikaela* Ah...

Mikaela: ...Too warm. *sits up, takes her coat off, and tosses it to the foot of the bed before laying back down, leaving herself in her loose shirt* Better. X)

Soldier: *after fiddling around with the robot* ... Its original programming seems to have been erased and replaced with a new coding. I know because we've examined fallen Metal City soldiers before...

Altodd: So they've been... hacked? D:/

Mikaela: ...So... they're not attacking us willingly. Someone's controlling them. D:

Altodd: Who'd do that, though? D8

Soldier: We're in the middle of a WAR.

Umbra: Eeeee...

Mikaela: We know THAT... But we still don't know. I don't know if Metal City would be willing to send civilians out to fight... Not when they could build SOLDIERS...

Altodd: Right! That makes no sense! D:

Soldier: So an enemy did it. Obviously. But which one is the real question.

Mikaela: Are any of the other cities good with machinery?

Soldier: No idea... they tend to keep what they're skilled at a secret to the other cities.

Altodd: Of course. DX

Umbra: Eeeeeee...

Mikaela: So what do we do with them? If we let them go, they'll just attack us again...

Soldier: Capture them.

Altodd: <:/

Umbra: Eeeeeee...

Mikaela: Alrighty, then... Altodd, can the Umbra carry those things?

Altodd: Yup.

Umbra: *carry the struggling robots on their backs*

Soldiers: o__o;

Mikaela: Aaand... now we tell Bibentus about this. Yay. X(

Altodd: ... Ohh... DX

Everyone: .___.;

Mikaela: ...Welp, time to head back, then. X(

*and so they do. The robots are all quickly put into prison*

In the Top of the Tower

Bibentus: ... Metal City civilians. Reprogrammed to attack my patrol troops.

Altodd: ... Uhh... yeah. D:>

Bibentus: ... It can't be Toktis... he wouldn't risk innocent lives to win a bloody WAR...

Mikaela: No one in the patrol group had any idea who it could have been. We're just as clueless as the rest of them. <:/

Bibentus: ... We'll wait it out then... the true enemy will have to come out of hiding eventually.

Altodd: M'kay... <:/

Bibentus: Your pay. *hands them a small bag of silver coins*

Altodd: *refuses to touch it* >__>;

Mikaela: *takes the bag* Thank you. Come on, Altodd. *turns to leave*

Soldiers: *march*

Mikaela: ...To be honest, so am I... *looks over at him* Promise me we'll stick together, okay?

Altodd: Right...

Soldiers: *enter the woods*

Key: *follows the soldiers, tensing up a bit, straining to hear anything that might be out of place... then again, EVERYTHING here sounded out of place...*

*suddenly a group of steampunk robots come crashes through the trees - though nothing about them indicates that they're soldiers. It fact, it seems more like they're civilians*

Altodd: !!!!

Soldier: STAY TOGETHER!

Soldiers: *do*

Robots: *ATTACK*

Mikaela: !! *isn't quite sure whether to attack them or not, so she just shoves them away if they run too close* D:!

Altodd: I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO - MIKAELA, WHAT DO WE DO?? D8>

Soldier: KILL THEM!!

Altodd: NO, THEY'RE INNOCENT PEOPLE! D8>

Soldier: THEY LOOK INNOCENT TO YOU??

Altodd: IF WE KILL THEM, REAL SOLDIERS ARE GONNA FIND THEM AND BLAME US! D8>

Robots: *ATTAAAAACK*

Mikaela: *narrowly avoids being clubbed over the head by a robot* Crap--RUN! D8

Everyone: *runs* D8

Altodd: PLEASE STOP!! WE DON'T WANT TO FIGHT!! D8>

Robots: *DON'T STOP*

Mikaela: *RUNS* Okay, there is CLEARLY something wrong here. D8

Altodd: WE SURRENDER!! D8

Robots: *DON'T STOP*

Altodd: ... Yeah, you're right. D:/

Soldiers: *are all like aaaah*

Altodd: Okay, we're gonna make these guys stop, then. >:/ *stops running*

Umbra: *APPEAR IN A SWARM*

Soldiers: DDDD8 !!!???

Mikaela: *also stops* !!!!

Umbra: *all of them leap at the Metal City civilians like a dark blanket, covering them, if human they would be smothering them. Most importantly, however, they knock the robots down*

Robots: *don't react other than fighting to get the Umbra off*

Altodd: They've become pretty handy. :D

Soldiers: O___O;

Mikaela: IIIIII can see that. O___O;;; So uh... do you think we could figure out what's wrong with them? *a bit louder* Anyone here good with machines at all?

Soldier: *raises his hand a little. He's a zombie with a few tools sticking out of him* I am.

Altodd: Well, great! D:

Robots: *struggle*

Umbra: Eeeeeee...

Soldier: *wanders over to a robot, twisting its head around to look into its wiring and programming and such* ...

Mikaela: *waits patiently* ....

Bibentus: No need to be. Now then, down to business. You two are going to be joining a patrol group that I'm sending out to an area that's susceptible to raids.

Mikaela: *nods* Alright. Is there anything specific we should be expecting?

Bibentus: An ambush group. Possibly that of Metal City, though they tend to take everyone out with such quickness that no one ever sees anything... it's strange... I'm trying to work out a peace treaty with High Engineer Toktis...

Altodd: That IS weird. D:

Mikaela: Well... we'll see what we can do.

Altodd: Right...

Bibentus: Your group is waiting for you outside. Try not to die. Or die again. Or well... you know what I mean.

Mikaela: *nods* Oh course. *turns around and goes outside with Altodd, to the waiting patrol group* ...

Patrol Group: *nervously marches off*

Altodd: ... I wonder if it was actually the Metal City... soldiers... who attacked these guys...

Mikaela: Whoever it was, we might be finding out... >__>

Mikaela: *sighs* Yeah, we do... You know it's all just gonna grow right back, right?
