From what you've told me, it seems that he stopped after he lied to you..then he picked up a slight love for you afterwards that drove him back to you...
But don't take that to heart...I can't even help myself..let alone others.

I'm not a good problem solver...which is why i constantly avoid people....I have that fear of not being able to help those close to me..and i can never help them with their problems..so I...just feel like i'm unneeded alot.and feel tossed aside....
