Claus: *nods to them*

Jean: Why are these morts-vivants not attacking us? We are sorry for shooting one.

Harry: They've been cured.

Jean: There's a cure?? *to Clause* <they say these morts-vivants have been cured!>

Clause: <That can't be possible!>

Todd: *snarls at Key, warning her that if she got too close, he wouldn't hesitate to bite her*

Claire: They aren't attacking you, are they? Our mission here is to cure the "morts-vivants" and rescue survivors.

Key: Shush, you. *grabs the gun she had tropped and takes one of the tranquilizers out of it, stabbing it into Todd's leg*

Jean: We are so happy to finally be rescued... <:D

Claus: <finally... out of danger at last!>

Harry: :) ... *he walks over to Todd, checking him over* <:(

Todd: *his snarls soon turn to whimpers as he passes out*

Harry: He's bleeding so much... we need to end the mission NOW... head BACK so he can get help...

Key: *put layers of gauze and bandages on the wound after she cleans it off as best as she can, trying to stop his bleeding* Someone help me move him...

Claire: *nods, and goes to help Key pick up Todd and carry him back to the truck*

Everyone: *heads back to the truck*

Todd: *his mind fuzzy from the tranquilizer in his system, he blissfully dreams of colors, a smile soon forming on his face*

Harry: Well, at least he's enjoying himself. Even if he's been shot at...

Key: He probably won't be feeling a thing right now...

Claire: ...The sooner we get back, then better.

*they all get into the truck*

Harry: *sits across from Todd* ...

Todd: *unconscious in his seat, head lolled back, with that goofy smile on his face*

Harry: ... I hope he gets better...

Key: He'd better... *puts an arm around him to keep him steady, and to hold him close. She didn't want to think about the possibility of him... not making it...* ...

Claire: *sits quietly next to Harry*

*and so they drove*

Todd: *now leans his head on Key's shoulder, still blissfully smiling*

Harry: ... I wonder what he's dreaming about... I wonder what ANYONE on those tranqs would be dreaming...

Soldiers: *silent*

Key: Whatever it is, it must be something really nice... we'll have to ask him when he's all taken care of...

Claire: ...

Harry: ... he probably wouldn't even remember.... and this is if he makes it...

Todd: *quietly mumbles in his sleep* ... colors... turn... turtles now... blue turtle... s'pretty...

Key: Harry, don't say that--!! *looks at Todd when he mumbles* colors... he's... he's dreaming about COLORS...

Claire: *knows for a fact that infected, cured or not, can't see in color--the fact that he's dreaming about it so long after losing his normal vision surprised her*

Harry: *his eyebrows raise, and he speaks quietly* ... he still remembers what they look like?

Todd: *still sleeps soundly, as if he hadn't even been shot, smiling, looking so carefree*

Harry: ... you never realize how beautiful something truly is until it's gone...

Key: *looks at Harry when he says this, and gives him a sad look, knowing that the infection left him color-blind as well. She couldn't see it either, and she knew exactly how he felt... one of the things she missed most from being human. she checks Todd's wound, and sighs* Bleeding's slowed down... he'll make it...

Claire: That's good news...

Todd: *still sleeps soundly*

Harry: That's... *he sighs in relief* That's great news... *he glances back at Todd, especially as his blissful expression* ... I don't remember what colors look like anymore.

Key: *combs her hand though Todd's hair* ...I don't remember either... I just know that I liked red... heh...

Claire: <:( *feels a tiny twinge of guilt, as she's the only one out of the four of them who was cured quickly enough to retain her vision. she couldn't imagine life WITHOUT color...*

Harry: ... The Green Flu has done a lot of terrible damage... it's ripped apart families... traumatized surviving children... MURDERED other children, other ADULTS... and it's torn down our spirit...

Todd: *sleeps soundly*

Key: ... *hugs Todd closer, still combing her hand through his hair, resting her head against his shoulder* ...

Claire: ... That's why we have to keep going, Harry... *takes his hand and holds it in both of hers* That's why we're here. To bring it all back, as best as we can...

Todd: *mumbles again* ... rainbow... haven't n'joyed m'rainbow since... *he trails off*

Harry: *he holds Claire's hand weakly, but still stares blankly at Todd* ... we can't bring it back...it doesn't exist anymore...

Key: *closes her eyes, trying to keep the tears from coming out. she keeps playing with Todd's hair* ...

Claire: ...But we can try Harry...

Todd: *his mumbling gets quieter* 'wish... could see it, Key... wish you...could see it...

Harry: *shakes his head* No... our world doesn't exist anymore.

Claire: ... *looks down, and releases her hold on Harry's hand. Any positivity, any hope she had left of restoring the world to what it once was was completely crushed by his words--only because he was the one saying them* ...

Key: *feels like she could break down and cry like a child. she checks Todd's wound and sees that the bleeding has mostly stopped* ...

Todd: Mmm... that feels nice...

Harry: *holds Claire's hand, looking up at her* <:(

Key: I'll keep doing that, then... *keeps doing so*

Claire: *Knowing that Todd can hear, she mouths "Fix it later," before leaning against his shoulder in an attempt co comfort him, still holding his hand*

Todd: *he smiles, feeling quite content laying on Key's shoulder while she combed through his hair*

Harry: *he nods to Claire* ...

*the truck stops*

Harry: Alright. Be ready, everyone.

*they exit the truck*

Key: *looks around for any threats, tranquilizer gun ready* >__>

Claire: *looks around as well, keeping alert* ...

Todd: ... >_>

Harry: ... Let's start walking.

*they do*

Key: *nervously looks around--she didn't even want to HEAR another Witch right now...* ...

Claire: *watches rooftops and windows--Hunter attacks needed to be avoided* ...

*a low rumbling is heard*

Harry: ... ... a tank. Todd?

Todd: *he nods* Right. *he takes out the syringe, waiting for the Tank to reveal itself*

Harry: ... be careful.

Todd: *nods again*

Soldiers: *very nervous* D8 !?!

Key: ...where is it...? D8

Claire: *silently looks around for any signs of it besides the increasingly louder rumbles* ...

Tank: *it runs straight at them. Like the Tank before it, it was completely nude, veins bulging through its huge muscle mass*

Todd: ... There... *he puts the syringe in his teeth and crouches, getting ready*

Harry: ...

Key: *tenses up from the proximity of the massive infected, bit stays still*

Claire: *waits* ...

Todd: *he waits until the Tank is close enough, then he leaps, doing as he did before, keeping his grip on the Tank's head as he stabs its jugular with the cure*

Tank: *freaks out and tries to shake Todd off, but to no avail. Finally he calms down, and looks around, quite confused* ...???

Todd: *hops off the Tank*

Soldiers: *applaud him*

Todd: :D

Harry: :)

Key: No matter how many times you do that, it's still gonna be pretty cool. :D

Claire: Indeed. *to the tank* If you can understand me, respond.

Todd: :) *feels good about himself now*

Tank: *to Claire - he can barely speak - his voice is muffled by the layers of muscle covering his mouth* <Can speak French? Can speak French??>

Harry: ... we should've brought that Smoker along...

Key: Um, um, um, let me try. Uh.. <Speak French no. English?>

Claire: ...

Tank: <have forgotten how...>

Todd: Key, can you understand him? :D

Harry: ...

Key: ...I don't know exactly what he said, but it sounded like a no.

Claire: Can you tell him to follow us?

Key: That's all I know how to say. ^^;

Harry: Uh... uh... *wracks his brain for memories of what he learned in his highschool French classes* <come with Americans.>

Tank: <You American?>

Harry: <Yes.>

Tank: *nods*

Harry: Okay, I think I told him to follow us, so... we're good now.

???: <Look! Look! Le sautant une, and tuant le géant!>

???2: !!! *he shoots at Todd, thinking he's a Hunter - trying to get him out of the way first. The bullet hits him on the right side of his chest*

Todd: !! *he falls to the ground, half in shock, and half in the instinct-state* Grrgh... hhrraahhgh...!

Harry: DDD8 !!!!

Key: !!! *drops her gun and gets between Todd and the survivors* STOP, DON'T SHOOT! D8

Claire: !! *pulls a first-aid kit out of her bag and runs over to Todd to look at his wound* D:>

???: <one of them spoke English!>

???2: <What the hell are they trying to tell us...?>

???: <The one that spoke told us to stop and not shoot>

*the two survivors approach the group carefully*

???: <I recognize those uniforms... they are part of the American military.> Are you here to rescue us?

Harry: You can speak English?

???: Yes. I moved to America with my family when I was younger. I studied the English language.

???2: *is weary of the Tank, and Todd* <_<;

Todd: *is suffering. He snarls angrily at Claire when she gets close*

Key: Oh thank GOD... *turns and immediately goes to Todd*

Claire: !! *is alarmed when Todd does this, and steps back* D:

Key: *takes the first-aid kit from Claire and works on Todd, trying to stop the blood flow* See, I told you you should've worn one of those goddamned vests, I TOLD you...

Soldier: WE'RE HEADING OUT!

Todd: Oh, that's our cue.

Key: Yup. Out we go. *goes outside with Todd, and piles into the truck with him and the other soldiers*

Todd: Okay, so we've met all the infected now, haven't we? So we know what to expect. :D

Harry: You still need to keep alert nonetheless.

Todd: Well, YEAH, but we KNOW what they're CAPABLE OF, now.

Key: Well, YEAH... but you never know.... >_>

Todd: Well, we can do it! We're READY, guys! >:D

Harry: Sometimes I worry about how positive you are...

Key: Better than being negative. :P

Harry: I'm not negative, I'm just REALISTIC.

Todd: But positivity gets you far, Harry. :D

Harry: It makes you more delusional than careful.

Key: But worrying too much can make you paranoid.

Harry: Better paranoid than dead.

Claire: *looks at him, a bit surprised by how harsh he sounded* ...

Key: *had caught what Harry said, and glares at him furiously, but doesn't say a word* ...

Harry: *rubs his hands together nervously, looking away from Todd, down at his shoes. It was true, but he didn't mean to sound so harsh*

Todd: *stays silent* :( ...

Key: ... *puts her hand on Todd's and rubs the back of it with her thumb* <:(

Claire: ... *silently looks away from him, averting her gaze to a random stop on the side of the truck* ...

Soldiers: *start getting uncomfortable from this and shift around in their seats, looking around and such* >_>;

Harry: ...

Todd: *he leans on Key affectionately, trying to forget what Harry said*

Key: *puts her arm around him comfortingly, leaning back against him* ...

Claire: ...

Todd: ... *quietly* ... Harry -

Harry: I didn't mean it like that... I'm sorry...

Todd: I know... and I forgive you.

Key: *is a bit relieved by the resolution, but she's still a little unhappy with Harry for saying it in the first place* ...

Claire: *looks at Harry* <:/ ....

Harry: *he just stares at Todd, his apology repeating over and over again in his eyes* D:> ...

Todd: *continues leaning on Key* Mmm... I wish I could just fall asleep on your shoulder...

Key: *glances at Harry* <:( ... You can rest, at least...

Claire: ...

Todd: Then I'll do that... *he completely relaxes on Key's shoulder*

Harry: *looks back down at the floor again, hoping this didn't fracture anything between him and Todd - their relationship was still so fragile* ...

Key: *moves her hand up to the back of his head, running it back and forth through his hair*

Claire: *can tell Harry feels terrible--she reaches over and takes his hand, squeezing it reassuringly* <:(

Sarah: I dunno, I just couldn't stop thinking about it... like, you know... what if that had been me? N-Not saying that you guys are bad parents, I love you and mom, but... you know. What if someone else had adopted me?

Todd: *he smiles at Sarah reassuringly* Now, Sarah... I don't think people like that adopt children... people like that get stuck with children that they don't want... but I don't see how anyone couldn't want you, Kiddo. <:) *he walks over and hugs Sarah*

Todd: *he grins at her* Just barely. It's not too important, though.

Todd: Yup yup yup. Or maybe more than a bit. Depending on how long it takes to get ready. :P

Todd: *he follows her out, still refusing to wear armor*

Key: *notices this yet again* ...So even knowing there are still Witches out there, you won't wear armor.

Todd: Hey, y'know, with that armor on, I can't one-hit-K-O Tanks. D:

Key: It can't possibly slow you down THAT badly. D:

Todd: It's heavy and lumpy. It WILL slow me down, and WEIGH me down if I try leaping. D:

Claire: *is happy to have them BOTH there. she knew this was a rare opportunity, so she took it--and feels genuinely happy*

Key: :) *puts an arm around Sarah's shoulders, content to wait until they were done*

Harry: *he is also amused, even LAUGHING a little at this. And Harry's laughs were rarer than his hugs*

Claire: ? *looks up at Harry, surprised by the laugh--but she doesn't say anything, she only smiles, and leans her head against his shoulder* :)

Sarah: *ducks, and it misses* ha HA! *is suddenly smacked with another snowball* !!??

Key: *looks innocent*

Sam: *bursts out laughing from this*

Todd: *laughs as well* W-we're not laughing at you, Sarah - we're laughing WITH you - ahahaha!

Harry: *leans against Claire, happy*

Key: *looks out of one of the small windows* ...almost there... looks like the snow's picking up, too...

*they reach the palace*

Harry: *head fallen asleep during the rest of the drive*

Key: *climbs out of the truck as soon as they open it, longing for fresh air* Oof... it was getting hot in there...

Harry: mm... *he groggily wakes up, then climbs out of the truck* ...

Todd: *climbs out as well* No kidding - I was starting to sweat. D:

Claire: *follows him out*

*suddenly, a loud screaming is heard*

Everyone: D8!!!!!!

Key: *looks in the direction they had been walking in* Oh crap--

Witch: *is remarkably unchanged, both in appearance and behavior--and it was running straight for them, screaming*

Harry: *COMPLETELY freaks out* OH GOD - OH GOD, OH GOD - SOMEONE SHOOT IT!! SHOOT IT!!

Todd: DDD8 !!

Soldiers: *they fire their guns at the Witch, but miss*

Witch: *keeps running, screaming, enraged by the NOISE, running straight for Harry*

Key: *tries shooting it, but misses* D8!!

Claire: *steps in front of Harry, and points her gun at the Witch, waiting for it to come closer* ...

Key: CLAIRE, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! D8>

Todd: IT'LL KILL YOU - RUN!! D8>

Harry: *he freezes up,staring at the witch as it ran at him - so terrified, he didn't even notice Claire*

Claire: *waits until she's sure she has a clear shot, then fires, hitting the Witch in the thigh, right in the vein* >:(

Witch: !!! *her screams grow quiet and she slows down, falling to her knees, then collapsing to the floor, unconscious*

Key: O_____O;;;;

Todd: Woah... that was BADASS, Claire... D8 *quickly stabs the Witch with the cure*

Harry: *hugs Claire tightly* Oh god.... oh god...

Soldiers: *relieved*

Claire: *hugs him back* Don't worry, you're okay, Harry, we're okay... shh...

Key: Jeez... *moves closer to the unconscious infected* wow... she didn't mutate like the others did... she looks almost the same. Wonder how that works... :/

Todd: Maybe they didn't change much because the Green Flu deemed them to be perfect, design-wise.

Harry: *still hugging Claire tightly* Oh-h god, it almost killed us...!

Key: That makes sense... They WERE pretty good at.. killing... things...

Claire: *rubs his back confortingly* Shhh... shhh, we're fine, Harry...

Todd: Yup...

Harry: *he nods, still shaking, but only slightly now* w-we need to get all these cured infected back to the truck... we'll e-end the mission for today...

Claire: *nods* Sounds like a plan. *turns to Todd* Huntings, help me carry her back to the truck. *walks over to the witch, and picks her up under her arms, waiting for Todd to help her*

Key: *starts heading back to the truck, looking around for any more infected*

Todd: ! *helps Claire carry the witch back to the truck*

Everyone Else: *help carry the other cured infected while watching out for infected*

Harry: *silently follows* ...

*after the soldiers put all the infected into the truck, they all pile in and start heading back*

Claire: *sits next to Harry, and puts an arm around him* <:( ...

Key: *quietly sits with Todd* ...

Harry: *leans against Claire, appreciative of her comfort*

Todd: ... Well, at least we cured some infected...

Claire: *leans against him and rubs his back comfortingly* ...

Key: That's always a plus... it's progress, you know?

Todd: Eyup. Sllooowwww progress.

Harry: ...

Key: Better than NO progress...

Smoker: *waking up* ...?

Todd: Ah. There's one of our friends.
