I'm taking my time, back on book 49. Small print ahead to avoid spoilers for other people. Just before the Gokage summit

I'm looking forward to seeing who Ryofu's next target is.

That sounds like a good bit of character depth. Not a bad thing at all. Ryofu's underlying motivations will be a lot of fun to read about.
Kimihiro is going to change a little bit, though in a different way. First, his name, because Kimihiro is irritating to type, for some reason. I think I've been spoiled by giving him the simpler name 'Yuji', lol. Now I've just got to dream up a way for it to make sense in the story!

She just compliments him nicely, I think. He's the perfect straight man for just about anyone.
Cool, sounds good. I'm working on a bigger plan for the Leaf that will come later. I'll only say that Itachi will be involved.
That's a good idea. Ryofu is good on his own, but having someone with him who can get him to think differently opens up some good possibilities. That, and he and Kimi would each have a 'distraction' when it comes to combat.

You know, I might do that some time. What have I got to lose, right? I just need to remember that my large vocabulary can work against me. It was great for shutting bullies up in school, but it tends to be too far out there for most audiences.

Lol, Kimi is no fun by himself. He's like this...black hole of charisma or something. Azami is reallly fun to write, too.
I've always wanted Kimi to face off against Yamato, so I'm hoping to lead to that. And one other surprise that doesn't really affect Ryofu, but I think you'll find it amusing.

More power to you! That can't be easy to do. I can do public speaking, and I can tell jokes, but a lot of people don't get my delivery. I say stuff kind of off the cuff. Kind of like Sean on Psych, for example.

Ah, I worded that badly. What I meant was 'once it's apparent that Kimi has connections with the Akatsuki, then Kimi will start taunting Ryofu by putting the robe on'.
I think the best way to do this would be for Kimi to be going to for his summoning scroll, and having Ryofu interrupt the Jutsu with some giant water tidal-wave thing that pulls objects out of the scroll. The cloak comes out, Ryofu gets angry, and Kimi puts the robe on to annoy him further, doing some Itachi-ish menacing line. Something like:

(Puts the robe on) "That's right. All this time you've been hunting the Akatsuki. Your most direct target is the one you've been trying to impress. Didn't you ever wonder why I never trusted you? Why I wouldn't help you destroy the Akatsuki, even though the mission made sense? You arrogant fool."
Then Ryofu could try to get Kimi to contradict himself. Failing that, Ryofu goes for the kill, could kill Kimi but doesn't. Then Kimi hates himself for not being strong enough, and the cycle of Kimi's self-hatred continues.

It all sounds good to me. I can react to whatever you come up with. Two things I can add:
-Ryouko will taunt Ryofu one the Akatsuki thing slips out. He plans to get Ryofu talking, both for information and so that Azami can escape. Whether he succeeds or not about the talking is up to you. I'd like to avoid killing off Azami, as she'll probably pull Ryouko's fat out of the fire, so to speak.

-I plan to make K more of a transient, and once Orochimaru is dead, I'll have Kimihiro's innocence of crimes agains the elders revealed.

The only suggestion I can offer: Have Ryofu throw a wrench in Kimihiro's plans by tipping the Leaf off about him being in touch with Itachi. This has many possible conclusions, some of which are:
-K finally joins the Akatsuki, attempting to sabotage them
-K is captured by the Leaf and interrogated nearly to the point of insanity. He recovers in someone's (not sure whose) care.
-K splits all ties and keeps living as a transient, occasionally aided by/aiding Itachi.
-A possible mix of all three of the above

I'd like to start making the Leaf's plans and key participants more clear. We can both do that, since there's no set story for them, but I just want to make sure that happens. Danzou will be important for Kimi's story, for example.

I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
