Wow, 12 years sounds lengthy to me for some reason. I believe I say that because my parents usually couldn't keep our pets for that long. I want this time to be different, though. I want to take care of Oliver for his whole life. :) It may be a dreamy thought, but it sounds right.

I've been meaning to give Ryofu a major revising of his character lately so I think this story might be the best chance for that.

Anyway I think we should start the story as a filler type story. Tsunade is just starting the Hokage path and gives mission etc.

Ekyt gets a mission to be sent to a port town in the land of fire or something, after hearing reports of some rouge ninja causing trouble.
During his time at the town he hears about Ryofu (and vice versa) and tries to find him as he holds clues as to what the ninja in the town are up to. Then the story unfolds from there.

What do you think about that?

As for Ryofu's part in the town I would say he is a local but has learned ninja techniques from ninjas that go through the town regularly, mainly mist ninja jutsu's.
As such he has become a sort of unseen protector to the town according to the local.

I thought I would add this part in case you asked what Ryofu's role was in the town
